The officials have released visuals of a masked person of interest in Nancy's case. Recently, Pima County SWAT team raided a house, and allegedly detained an individual. As online users claimed to have uncovered the identity of the arrested individual, a Sheriff investigating the case revealed the truth behind the rumours.
On February 13, 2026, a SWAT team searched a house in Tucson located less than two miles from where Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted. Following that, it was reported that they arrested three individuals, including two men and a woman, who was alleged to be the mother of one of the guys. It led to social media speculation regarding the identities of the persons allegedly detained following the SWAT activity. Amid the public chatter, the name that came up most often was Sam Hyde's. "SAM HYDE (39) arrested in connection to Nancy Guthrie kidnapping," an X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, attributing their post with sources like AP, NBC, and CNN.
Another person commented, "SAM HYDE has been arrested in connection with #NancyGuthrie kidnapping," as reported by Hindustan Times. A third wrote, "news nation says they arrested a guy in marana named Sam Hyde connected to the case. It's on twitter." Notably, none of the posts share any information regarding the identity of Sam Hyde.
Besides Sam Hyde, Dominic Evans and his mother were rumoured to be arrested by the police in connection with Nancy Guthrie's abduction. For the unversed, Dominic is the bandmate and longtime friend of Tommaso Cioni, husband of Annie Guthrie and son-in-law of Nancy Guthrie. Social media speculation has linked Dominic Evans to SWAT activity in Marana, Arizona, due to his connection with Tommaso and because Dominic's house was reportedly around the site raided by SWAT. Recently, the official investigation into the Nancy Guthrie missing case revealed the truth behind the viral speculations.
Following the SWAT operation on February 13, 2026, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos debunked rumours of any arrests related to the Nancy Guthrie case. Three people were indeed called in for questioning; however, after inferring that they weren't involved with Savannah Guthrie's mother's disappearance, they were released. The Sheriff clarified that, in the future, there will be similar police activities and lead chasing, but at present they don't have any updates on Nancy's whereabouts.
