Rapper, Gucci Mane, apparently had a troubled relationship with his now-wife, Keyshia Ka'oir, before their wedding. He had detailed the same in his memoir, 'The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.'
Gucci Mane is one of the most well-known faces in the hip-hop and rap industry. Having made his debut in, he has given us several hits like Preference, Now It's Real, I Get the Bag, Slippery, and Black Beatles, to name a few. At present, however, the rapper is grabbing the headlines, not for his music but for having been allegedly robbed and kidnapped by his fellow rappers. According to federal investigators, the incident allegedly took place at a recording studio in Dallas on January 10, 2026 (ET). With the spotlight on Gucci Mane, many have also become curious about his personal life.
Rapper, Gucci Mane and his longtime girlfriend, Keyshia Ka'oir, tied the knot almost a decade ago, on October 17, 2017. They had the most extravagant wedding, which reportedly cost around USD 1.7 million. While their wedding was all things glamorous, the same cannot be said of their relationship before marriage. Yes, reportedly, Gucci Mane had a troubled relationship with Keyshia prior to their wedding, a fact which he himself detailed in his September 19, 2017, memoir, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.
In the book, Gucci goes into detail about the harrowing trials he put Keyshia through while he was in jail and as a result of his drug use. He recalled screaming, “Why the f— haven't you come down here and bonded me out yet?” at his then-girlfriend, just two weeks after his arrest and after he had been put in an isolation cell. According to reports, Gucci Mane served three years in jail for illegal possession of a firearm and was released on May 26, 2016.
Gucci explained that, after his arrest, Keyshia had good reason not to want to help him out. He wrote, “I'd gone crazy on her, first privately on the phone when she'd tried to take me off the ledge [which is prescription cough syrup] and then on Twitter.” However, that wasn't the reason why Keyshia did not come to bond him out. She had taken every single one of his calls since his arrest and wanted to help him despite everything, but she couldn't get him out of jail. Reportedly, Gucci was held in custody owing to a pending assault case and after he violated probation. To Gucci, it was his time in jail that transformed him for the better.
For those unaware, Gucci and Keyshia met for the first time after the latter featured in a video in 2010. During a conversation with Fader, Keyshia confessed she was initially hesitant to go out with the rapper, though she eventually agreed to date him. Apparently, for Gucci, he was in love with her “on sight.” Despite this, in his memoir, Gucci admitted that he downplayed his “vices” because she didn't do drugs. He wrote:
“I’d promised her I was done drinking lean, which was a lie, but as long as I stayed on point and didn’t let things spiral out of control, she would have no reason not to believe me.”
If reports are believed to be true, authorities have claimed that the motive behind Gucci Mane's kidnapping was a dispute involving 1017 Records and a recording contract. As per the investigators, a meeting was allegedly arranged in Dallas to discuss the contract terms. However, prosecutors have claimed that the suspects forced a release from the label at gunpoint. The suspects in the Gucci Mane kidnapping case include Pooh Sheisty, Big30, Lontrell Williams Jr., Rodney Wright Jr., Lontrell Williams Sr., Kedarius Waters, Terrance Rodgers, Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson and Darrion McDaniel.
