After the recent pictures of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini surfaced, they were put back into the spotlight. Since then, there have been reports that the two have been dating from the past six years. Amid the scandal, Dianna deleted her X account (formerly known as Twitter). Her content was no longer visible on the platform.
On April 23, 2026, Page Six released a new set of pictures of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel from 2020, in which both were seen having a close conversation with each other at a dimly lit, romantic Manhattan bar. The pictures are from 2020, six years ago, before the duo's latest photo scandal. In one of the pictures, Mike was seen leaning towards Dianna and apparently kissed her. As per an eyewitness:
“They were kissing and they were all over each other. He had a ring on.”
A few days back, Page Six shared exclusive pictures of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and New York Times NFL reporter Dianna Russini. In the pictures, Dianna and Mike were seen spending time together at a hotel in Arizona. The images, reportedly taken on March 28, 2026, showed Dianna and Mike holding hands and hugging on a private rooftop bungalow during the evening.
Along with footage of Mike and Dianna's time in Sedona, sources claimed that the duo was out there with their separate groups of friends, but they started hanging out together. Sources also claimed that the duo was not seen with a larger group and instead spent quality time on the hotel's private rooftop.
Vrabel addressed the viral pictures in the New York Post and brushed off the rumours about his affair with Dianna. He said that the pictures were innocent and that it was nothing but laughable. Dianna, on the other hand, stated that the viral photos didn't include the other six people who were hanging out with them at the time, and that it's normal for reporters to interact with sources away from the stadium and venues.
Within a week of the scandal, Dianna Russini stepped down from her role at The Athletic on April 14, 2026. In her letter to Executive Editor Steven Ginsberg, Dianna defended herself, stating that she had covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout her career. She said the public discussion had moved far away from facts and turned into constant speculation. Dianna also mentioned that she didn’t step away from her position because she wasn't at fault, but she didn’t wish to give it any further attention.
