South superstar, Dhanush and Nayanthara had the biggest legal fight in the South industry. After more than a year, Nayanthra's husband, Vignesh Shivan, opened up about his stance on the same.
South superstar, Dhanush had a big fight with Nayanthara over the usage of a 3-second clip in the actress' Netflix documentary. The fight didn't just stayed on social media, but it was dragged to the court with Dhanush asking Nayanthara to pay Rs. 10 crores for the damages she caused for using the 3-second video. Now, Vignesh Shivan opened up about the same and losing Dhanush as a friend.
Years after the controversy, Vignesh Shivan expressed regret and shame for losing someone who had a fatherly presence in his life. He called it a big loss in an interview with Gobinath for his YouTube channel in Tamil. Vignesh Shivan revealed that he likes Dhanush a lot, and his birthday falls on the same day his father passed away, which is the reason he feels another connection with him.
Dhanush called losing his relationship with Dhanush the biggest loss, and stated that he is ashamed about it. He added that there must be a mistake somewhere. Vignesh Shivan also expressed his gratitude for Dhanush and claimed that the life he is living is all because of him. He was quoted as saying:
"I like Dhanush sir a lot. His birthday is on July 28... and on that same day, my father passed away. I feel a fatherly presence in him; I identify him that way. My biggest loss is losing that relationship. That is also something I feel ashamed about. There must have been a mistake somewhere at some point. For the life I'm living now, Dhanush sir is a very important person to me."
Vignesh Shivan also revealed that he was with him for two years during the VIP shoot, and he would eat only after Dhanush ate. He added that sometimes some situations are not easy to understand. Further, Vignesh expressed his grief over the fight and called it shameful. He added that he doesn't know how to solve the matter. Vignesh Shiva said:
I was with him for two years during the VIP shoot. I used to eat only after he ate. Sometimes, we don't even understand the situation when something happens between people. I consider it my biggest loss. If we lose someone with whom we had a great relationship, I consider it a shame as well,” he said. “If there was one correct problem and two people split, it can be solved. What can we do if there is no problem? How do you solve that?”
For the unversed, it was in 2024 when Nayanthara spoke out and slammed Dhanush in an open letter. She accused the producer and actor Dhanush of taking legal action against her and her husband, Vignesh Shivan. The issue centred around Nayanthara using a three-second clip from the film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which was part of the trailer of her Netflix Documentary.
Dhanush filed the case in the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband, Vignesh Shivan and their production house, Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. Afterwards, Dhanush sent her a legal notice and asked her to pay Rs. 10 crore in damages. The issue escalated to a level that Nayanthara lost her cool. It is worth noting that Vignesh and Nayanthar fell in love during the shooting of the film, which was directed by Dhanush. It is the reason the usage of the clip was important in Nayanthara's documentary.
