Dave was at the time building his career in WWE as Batista. The couple had a son named Oliver Bautista. During their marriage, Angie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Dave has spoken about standing by her during that period and even took part in cancer awareness work to support her. Despite that, the marriage ended in divorce in 2006.
In interviews years later, Dave Bautista gave his own explanation for the split. He said the demands of his WWE career made it impossible to be home consistently. In a 2021 interview with Men’s Health, he said that Angie wanted a husband who would be present, and he had to choose between family and wrestling. He chose wrestling because it was the only opportunity he had at that time to build a future.
Published reports from the period also cited other strains. Some outlets reported multiple difficulties in their marriage and mentioned rumors of Bautista’s alleged involvement with other women, including a highly publicized association with former WWE star Melina, as well as other WWE personalities.
In his 2007 autobiography Batista: My Life, My Story, Dave acknowledged that infidelity contributed to problems in the marriage during a period when his wrestling schedule was extremely demanding. Dave Bautista’s first marriage was to Glenda Bautista. They married on March 25, 1990, long before Dave found fame in WWE. Glenda is described in reports as Filipino-American, and her parents had immigrated to the U.S. At the time, Dave was still working various jobs while pursuing wrestling.

However, Dave and Sarah’s marriage did not last for more than four years, leading to their divorce in 2019. Just like the first marriage, the circumstances resulting in the duo’s split have not been revealed.
