Chris Watts has applied to get married in prison as he serves his life imprisonment with no parole. The 41-year-old was found guilty of killing his pregnant wife and two kids.

The 41-year-old killed his pregnant wife and two daughters due to his extramarital affair. Later, he claimed that they had gone missing, and during the investigations he further tried to put the blame of his daughters' death on his wife. He stated that it was in rage he killed her, but the truth came out in later investigations.
It was on August 13, 2018, Chris commited the horrific crime of killing his wife, Shanann Watts who was 15 weeks pregnant with their third child, a baby boy. Not only this, he even killed his two daughters, Bella Watts who was four year old and Celeste Watts who was just three. In order to hide, his crime he dumped their bodies at the remote oil field in Colorado where he used to work.
However, a friend of Shanann reported that she and her kids are missing since 12 hours after she gave them a ride home from the airport. On the other hand, Chris who was trying his best to hide the whole crime, claimed he had an emotional talk with his wife before her disappearance.
On the other hand, Shanann's friend, Atkinson who filed the missing report, revealed that when he called her husband he told her that they are planning to separate. She added that Shanann never shared the detail with her.
Although, Chriskept denied knowing anything about his family. However, he confessed their murders two days after the missing report was filed. But he tweaked the story and stated that when his family returned home from the airport, he asked for sepration from his wife. He then claimed that to take revenge she killed their two daughters and it was in rage that he strangled her. He then hid their bodies at an oil work site.
But the evidences didn't match his story, and in Febraury 2019, Chris accepted that after his wife returned from her trip, they had a fight. Chris confessed of having an extramarital affair and told her that he didn't love her anymore. When she threatened to leave him and take the children away, he jumped on top of Shanann and strangled her.
In the audio recording confession, Chris stated that he did not want to kill her but he did. He further claimed that it was something he felt he had to do as if it was implanted in his mind that he was going to kill her since he woke up that morning. He said:
"I didn’t want to do this, but I did it,” Chris could be heard saying in an audio recording of his confession. “I don’t even want to say it felt like I had to; it just felt like there was already something in my mind that was implanted that I was gonna do it, and when I woke up that morning, it was gonna happen, and I had no control over it."
After killing his wife, Shanann, Chris loaded her body in his truck and drove with their daughters to remote oil field. He burried her in a shallow grave. Later, Chris smothered his two daughters and placed bodies in oil tanks. Police found their dead body on August 17, 2018.
Chris found love in 39-year-old Lizzie Henderson, who is a realtor. The couple had applied to get married within the Wisconsin prison, where Chris is serving life sentence for his family's murders. While they wait for the approval, Lizzie had visited Chris twenty times last year and relocated to Wisconsin to be close to him. She has even started using his last name and applied for the name change in 2025.
