Late music legend, Selena Quintanilla-Prez's father, Abraham Quintanilla has passed away at the age of 86. Here's what led to his demise.
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez's fans who lost the much-loved star back in 1995 are once again mourning the loss of her father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr years later. He was a major source of influence in the life of his daughter who earned a lot of success and a loyal fan following with his support. Abraham's demise was confirmed by his son, A.B Quintanilla III in a heartfelt social media post. As social media tributes continue to pour in from fans around the world, his family has maintained silence over the matter.
Abraham Quintanilla Jr. died on December 13, 2025 at the age of 86. The news announcing his demise was shared by his son, A.B. Quintanilla III who shared that the news on Instagram. Apart from his message, there is no update on the exact cause of Abraham”# death. Although, news outlets like TMZ have reached out to his family for more details. Abraham began his career in music in late 1950s by joining the a doo-wop group called The Dinos. Later, the group evolved into Los Dinos and shifted toward Spanish-language music. After moving beyond his musical aspirations, Abraham realised that his younger Selena had extraordinary talent for music.

He was their manager and guided their group from performing at small weddings and events to become one of the most popular and influential acts in Tejano music.

He ensured the posthumous release of her music and contributed to the establishment of Selena Museum in Corpus Christi. Abraham also served as an executive producer on the 1997 biopic Selena, where Edward James Olmos portrayed his role. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was killed on March 31, 1995 by Yolanda Saldívar, the expelled former president of her fan club and manager of her boutiques. As per authorities who investigated her demise, Yolanda was confronted by Abraham Quintanilla Jr after he found financial discrepancies in her work. When Selena went for a final meeting with her to retrieve her financial documents, she was shot by Yolanda at a motel in Corpus Christi.
