However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, which claim he shot his wife in the bed of their marital home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16, 2026. He later staged it as burglary.
The 40-year-old Caleb Flynn choked back his tears as jurors during his murder trial were shown the crime photos. They featured his dead wife, who was found gunned down in bed. Caleb, who was dressed in a grey-hued suit with a white shirt underneath and a black tie, kept shutting his eyes and kept looking down.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Criminal Investigation Specialist David Hammond described the numerous photos showing Ashley Flynn's lifeless body inside their bedroom. He revealed that it was how Ashley was positioned and that a white towel was behind her head, where one can see some reddish stains that are suspected to be blood, and her body was covered with a white comforter.
He also revealed that there were large amounts of blood saturating the pillow and the sheets below her. A firefighter and paramedic told the court that they had found a penetrating cranial injury on Ashley's right side of the head after the alleged murder. Other people who attended the trial also covered their eyes while Ashley's photos were shown in the courtroom.
For the unversed, Caleb is on trial for the murder of his wife, Ashley. However, he claims that he is not guilty of the fatal shooting. The duo's two daughters were inside the house when Caleb allegedly shot their mother in the head with a 9mm handgun. On the first day of trial, it was revealed that Caleb had sent more than 100,000 messages to a woman he was having a years-long affair with.
In those texts, Caleb expressed his desire to kill Ashley. One of the texts read that he was awake till 4 a.m., crying and trying to find ways to kill her and not go to jail. His message can be read as "I was up until 4 a.m. last night crying, literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail."
In another message Caleb sent to his lover, he stated that he would finally be free of his wife, and it was sent a night before the murder of Ashley. His lawyer told the court that he had a fling but denied that he killed his wife.
While he broke down on the second day of his trial, he claimed that his wife was shot by an alleged intruder. The investigating agent, David, claimed that the scene in the murdered photos of Ashley did not show a break-in and was no proof that a struggle had taken place.
The investigating agent further confirmed that there was no struggle that had taken place at the crime scene. There was no indication that she had been moved or repositioned, despite Caleb stating that a burglar had shot her. He also pointed out an important fact that, judging from the blood flow pattern from her nose and mouth, it is believed that she was shot while she was asleep or lying still in that position.
Initially, Caleb said that his wife died during a break-in at their residence. However, authorities later arrested Caleb and accused him of staging the crime scene and misleading the investigators. He is facing charges of aggravated murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty to these charges.
