Bunnie XO had opened up about how her husband, Jelly Roll, was not her type before their divorce and claimed that she loved 'boys in eyeliner.'
American rapper, Jelly Roll, had left his fans stunned after it was revealed that he is divorcing his wife, Bunnie XO. For those unaware, Bunnie and Jelly were among the most loved couples and had been married for nearly 10 years. The duo was known for having a relationship filled with highs and lows, but they still did everything to make things work, until now, that is. Amid the divorce buzz, fans have been trying to dig deeper into their relationship. If you are one of them, here's when Bunnie XO opened up about how Jelly Roll wasn't her type at all.
In her 2026 memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie XO shared several details of her relationship with her husband, Jelly Roll, in the most unfiltered way possible, as the name of the book suggests. She also opened up about the fateful night that she met the musician. For those unaware, the duo crossed paths in August 2015, when Jelly opened for the Moonshine Bandits at the Las Vegas Country Saloon. Bunnie recounted in her memoir that when she saw him, Jelly was not her type, adding:
"I was—dare I say—mesmerised? This man was not my type. But shaking his hand felt like every star in the sky collided. My soul recognised his. It was as if I’d been looking for him my entire life."
Although Bunnie could not recall the details of Jelly's performance, she remembered that her phone was full of videos of Jelly. She claimed that she wanted to “study him” – the way that he talked and the way that he moved. According to her, she did not care much for Southern drawl until she saw Jelly perform. She also thought to herself at the time that Jelly Roll would become “a star one day.” Expanding on how Jelly wasn't her type back then, Bunnie wrote:
"J wasn’t my type—I love tough guys, or goth, emo boys in eyeliner. I wasn’t his type either. So why the hell was my soul telling me there he is the minute we met? I couldn’t explain it."
After their first meeting, Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll kept texting each other for several months. They also used to call each other, but since Bunnie was a call girl at the time, she recalled how she would have one of her “boy toys lying in bed” next to her, and she would have to get up and take the call in the other room. During one such call, Jelly told her that he would be coming to Las Vegas for a video shoot, news that left Bunnie incredibly thrilled.
When Jelly got there, the duo spent a night at a honky-tonk bar where Bunnie claimed that they had insane chemistry and “couldn't keep our hands off each other.” With things escalating, the couple ended up back at her Vegas penthouse; however, to Bunnie's surprise and disappointment, “that man absolutely would not bang me.”
Instead, Jelly went on to inquire about her five-year plan. Bunnie remembered feeling frustrated yet intrigued by his question, so she lay next to him and, after wrapping her arm around Jelly, told him about all the dreams she had. Bunnie said she wanted to have a talk show and a family, while he discussed his plans for his music career and how he intended to get custody of his now-teenage daughter, Bailee. She wrote in her memoir:
"For hours, we lay there together, dreaming out a future and how we could be part of it for each other. We didn’t hold back anything. It was the most honest conversation I’d ever had."
