While the family is stunned with shock to make any comments on Maria's passing, a friend of hers has now shared a post about the tragedy and how it has left them completely heartbroken.

For the unversed, Maria died after being thrown from a height of about 40 meters at the Ponte do Esqueleto (Skeleton Bridge) in Limeira. The friend paid tribute to the young woman on social media, calling her a "lovely person" who was dreamy, polite, and "possessed a giant heart." The friend also stated that "all we wanted was to have fun that day, and this tragedy happened." In a heartfelt note, the friend was quoted as saying:
"I still can't believe it, Dudinha, I think it's a nightmare, and I'm going to wake up. You're the most wonderful person I've ever known. Why is this happening? I love you, girl. I don't know if I can handle all this. I know nothing will bring you back, but I pray to God that we can see each other again. I love you, Dudinha, I will never forget you."
