In a recent interview, Brooke Shields spoke about her infamous fling with JFK Jr. and revealed whether it was true love.
American actress, Brooke Shields is hailed for her acting prowess. The diva starred in films such as The Blue Lagoon, Endless Love, Lipstick Jungle, and many others. The actress was hailed for her stunning looks, but her linkup to John F. Kennedy Jr. constantly garnered limelight. There had been many wild theories that Shields was head-over-heels in love with him, and the two were madly in love with each other.
During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Brooke Shields set the record straight and spoke about her relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. The pair was romantically linked in the 1980s, and speaking about the same, Shields said:
“I didn’t have a love story. I had a crazy, crazy crush. We dated, but I never slept with him, so I don’t know if that counts. It counted for me! He was lovely to meet.”
Brooke Shields was at the peak of her career when she was linked with John F. Kennedy Jr. They went on a date at a ski resort in Aspen. Speaking to Howard Stern about the same, Shields said she had the “best kiss I’ve ever had in my life”, when she went on a date with JFK Jr. Though she knew, she was crushing hard on him, Shields didn’t wish to pursue the relationship.
She made an active choice not to sleep with JFK Jr. as she was falling madly in love with him. Sheilds had the fear that he would discard her after their physical intimacy. Elaborating on the same, Shields said:
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, you’re falling in love, and if you sleep with him, he may not talk to you again. I wasn’t playing a game, I really was just so afraid of being really hurt. Because if I slept with him, I would have given him my entire universe, my heart, my everything.”
True to her fears, when Shields told JFK Jr. that she didn’t want to pursue the relationship, he didn’t take the rejection nicely. Revealing how he made her take a cab back home, Shilds revealed, “I had to get a cab home, which was a little less chivalrous, in my opinion.” When she met him later, he totally ignored her presence and didn’t even talk to her.
Carolyn Bessette first met John F Kennedy Jr in the early '90s, when he came to buy a suit at Calvin Klein. Carolyn Bessette attended the VIP clients. He was instantly smitten by her charm and couldn’t help falling in love with her. John reportedly pursued Carolyn Bessette; however, she refused to commit because she did not believe JFK Jr. was serious.
Although the duo dated briefly in 1994, they separated after JFK Jr. reconciled with his ex, Daryl Hannah, that same year. Although John F. Kennedy Jr. had resolved his issues with Daryl Hannah, the relationship did not last long and ended in a permanent split in 1994. Following the separation, John and Carolyn started dating again.
After a year, JFK Jr. proposed to Carolyn on a boat ride, and she accepted. Although they were the most publicised couple, they kept their marriage a secret. In September 1996, JFK Jr. and Carolyn got married in a secret ceremony attended by only 30 people, including family and friends. Journalist and author, Carole Radziwill described the wedding as “one of the best-kept secrets of modern times”.
