Britney Spears' former husband, Sam Asghari, appeared on SiriusXM's Page Six Radio. He reflected on his relationship with the singer and could not help but appreciate her hard work. Sam Asghari did admit that he was not very familiar with Spears' music when they had first met. In his words:
"The second that I realized what these songs meant, and why people resonated with them and why they were icons like Michael Jackson, Madonna and her: the King of Pop, the Queen of Pop and the Princess of Pop then I understood, and it made me appreciate the music even more.”
Sam Asghari has nothing but the utmost respect for Britney Spears, even three years after their divorce. The Iranian American model called Britney the 'Princess of Pop' and also told co-hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real that he didn't know her type of music. He confessed that he understood her music only after they met in 2016.
Asghari was drawn to Britney's love for pop music. However, things slowly changed when he understood the deep cultural impact of her songs. He could not stop appreciating his former wife for her ability to evolve as an artist over the years. Showing love and appreciation to the pop icon, Asghari further shared:
"Spears sort of created a blueprint that nobody after that has ever really accomplished. We see some artists now that are trying to do it, but it’s just not ever going to happen.”

The former couple went Instagram official back in 2017, and then both got engaged in September 2021. Britney Spears is a mother to Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19 with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

It was in June 2022 when Asghari and Spears got married in Los Angeles. Their wedding was attended by Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Madonna and Selena Gomez.
After 14 months of marriage, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. There were rumors that Spears was unfaithful, and Asghari had confronted her about it. The Toxic singer had taken to her Instagram to speak about Asghari filing for divorce and shared:
"6 years is a long time to be with someone, so I’m a little shocked, but … I’m not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody’s business. I couldn’t take the pain anymore, honestly, and in some telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends, and I thank you! I’ve been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may seem perfect, but it’s far from reality, and I think we all know that."
At the end of her note, Britney Spears called herself strong and mentioned always giving her best. She spoke about doing well amid her divorce and told her fans never to stop smiling in life.
