Lee's comments came as Sooryavanshi continues to attract worldwide attention after his breakthrough IPL season. The former Australian fast bowler recently praised the 15-year-old's extraordinary batting ability, saying he did not care whether the teenager was 15, 17 or 18, insisting that "this kid can play cricket." But he also urged people not to put too much pressure on him, emphasizing that Sooryavanshi still needs to be allowed to be a child.
The former Australia pacer was particularly impressed by the teenager's ability to take on express bowling. Lee said that if he were still bowling, he would have tested Sooryavanshi with short-pitched deliveries to see how he handled the challenge.
"It won't be his form or batting; it'll only be his mind," Lee said, stressing that Sooryavanshi needs time to grow without being overwhelmed by expectations. This perspective is particularly interesting coming from a player who spent years dealing with the enormous expectations attached to being one of the world's fastest bowlers.
Brett Lee has built a quieter family life with Lana Anderson, whom he married in 2014. The couple reportedly began dating in 2013 and kept their relationship relatively private in its early stages. They eventually married in an intimate ceremony at their home in Seaforth, Sydney, in March 2014.

In January 2026, Lee revealed that he had moved to Dubai with Lana and their three children after years of travelling to the UAE for work.
The cricketer said it was an easy move for his family, and his wife and children were settling in well. Lee's younger children are reportedly attending school in Dubai alongside students from around 200 nationalities. His youngest son has taken up football, while his daughter has found her passion in singing, drama and stage performances. While discussing their new chapter in Dubai, Lee said, "For me, family is the most important thing."
After years spent travelling the world for cricket, the former Australia star now appears focused on giving his wife and children a stable life while continuing his work in broadcasting, business, entertainment and philanthropy.
