Bradley made his acting debut with a guest role in the hit 90s TV series, S** and the City. Just a year later, he landed his first major role in the 2001 comedy, Wet Hot American Summer. Many might not be aware, but Bradley Cooper, in the mid-2000s, was part of a whirlwind romance with actress, Jennifer Esposito. While they appeared super in love to their fans and everyone around them, especially when they shockingly chose to get married, their relationship ultimately ended in divorce. It is not publicly known how Bradley Cooper and actress, Jennifer Esposito first met or even how they fell in love with each other. This is because the duo kept their relationship low key, not even confirming they were together until years later. However, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito's romance rumours spread like wildfire in January 2006 when the duo were spotted kissing at the InStyle and Warner Bros’ Golden Globes party. When asked if they were currently dating or not, Jennifer chose to keep her silence on the matter, telling People, “I'm not answering that.”

Just a few months after Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito were spotted looking cosy at the Golden Globes party, news broke that they got engaged in October 2006. If reports are to be believed, Jennifer was allegedly seen out and about in Los Angeles, California, shopping for a wedding dress. At the time, her to-be-husband, Bradley, was reportedly unable to accompany her because he was busy working on a number of projects, including Alias, Kitchen Confidential, and Failure to Launch. Jennifer, on the other hand, was filming the renowned series, Law & Order.

According to People, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito tied the knot on December 21, 2006. Interestingly, this was only one month after their representatives officially confirmed to media outlets that they had gotten engaged. Additionally, while the actors themselves did not divulge many details about their engagement and marriage, it was reported at the time that their wedding was a relatively low-key affair, which took place in the South of France.

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito separated after 4 months of marriage  

In a shocking turn of events, only four months after they got married, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito split up, ending their marriage. As per reports, Jennifer was the first one to file for divorce from the Oscar-nominated actor, in May 2007. At the time, a representative for Jennifer confirmed the news to TMZ, adding that “she asks that you respect her privacy at this time.” On the other hand, Bradley Cooper's representative claimed that the former couple's breakup was mutual. Apparently, before they announced their split, Bradley and Jennifer had already “been separated for quite a while.” Their divorce papers gave away their exact date of separation as April 5, 2007. During an interview with People in August of the same year, Jennifer opened up about their divorce, stating: 

“You have to move on. That's what life is about — taking a situation, making the best of it, and moving on.”

According to CBS News, a few years later, Bradley Cooper also discussed his and Jennifer's separation, telling Howard Stern in 2011 that “it was just something that happened.” He added that both of them realised that the relationship “just wasn't right.” During a 2008 interview with Elle magazine, Bradley claimed that his marriage to Jennifer was the most romantic thing he had ever done in his life. However, he refused to divulge too much information on the matter but noted that he didn't regret being wed to her, and although they are no longer friends, he hopes that they will be again someday.

Years after Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito's divorce was finalised in November 2007, the actress gave her fans an insight into what went wrong in their marriage and eventually led to their divorce. In her 2014 memoir, Jennifer's Way, she talked about this, albeit briefly, since the majority of the book was about her harrowing experience with celiac disease. Noting how he was a huge ‘red flag', she wrote:

"I should have noticed the red flags from the beginning — actually, they were more like an entire marching band squad of red flags — but I ignored them because, honestly, I didn't think the relationship was really going to go anywhere. He was funny, smart, cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator. I didn't necessarily find him that attractive, but I figured that I could enjoy his sense of humour and nonsense for a while." 

Furthermore, Jennifer Esposito went on to add that within days, her “relationship hit an all-time low, and within a week, it was over.” She claimed that while her relationship with Bradley Cooper ended “abruptly, rudely, and with the exact callousness that I'd come to expect from him,” after dealing with everything that she did during their marriage, she decided it would be best to end it.
