Dharmendra's younger son, Bobby Deol, has lent his voice to recreate his dad's younger version in the biographical war drama, 'Ikkis.'
Dharmendra was one of the beloved actors of Bollywood. For the unversed, on November 24, 2025, the 89-year-old legendary actor passed away, leaving his family heartbroken. He is survived by his two wives, Prakash Kaur, Hema Malini and his six children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijayta Deol, Ajeeta Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Now that Dharmendra’s last film, Ikkis, is all set to release, reports say Bobby is lending his voice as his dad’s younger version.
Dharmendra’s death just a week before his 90th birthday left his family and fans mourning. Over the years, Bollywood’s 'He-Man' has won hearts with his stellar performance on-screen. In fact, the legendary actor once expressed his wish to work till his last breath, and now that his last film, Ikkis, a biographical war drama, is gearing up for its theatrical release, Dharmendra proved his dedication to cinema.
For the uninitiated, Dharmendra will be seen portraying the role of 21-year-old martyred Indian army officer, Arun Khetarpal’s father, 'Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal' in the biographical war drama, Ikkis. The film will feature the real-life story of Arun Khetarpal, who was martyred when he was in action during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson will make his silver screen debut with this film and will play 'Arun'.
According to an OTT play report, Bobby Deol’s voice has been used in many sequences in the film in order to maintain the historical and chronological accuracy of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. He has lent his voice to his father’s character’s younger version, and the audience will hear him during the flashback sequences. According to a source close to the production team, the transition between the two voices is designed in such a way that the emotional gravity between the father-son duo can be felt.
Ikkis, the biographical war drama which was earlier set to release on December 25, 2025, got a new theatrical release date. According to the latest reports, the film’s release was postponed, and now the film is scheduled to be released on January 1, 2026. The film features veteran actor, Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda in key roles. Just before the theatrical release, the makers arranged a special screening on December 29, 2025. While some critics have watched the film, here comes their early review. A film critic, Ravi Chaudhary, took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and lauded the late veteran actor’s performances. He wrote:
"#Ikkis – FIRST REVIEW 4.5/5. A film driven by pure patriotism, Ikkis tells the heroic story of Arun Khetarpal with honesty, emotion, and cinematic power. #Dharmendra delivers an extended cameo that feels like a tribute. His emotional moments, powerful dialogue delivery, and screen presence elevate the entire film. The line 'Ikkis ka tha, aur Ikkis ka hamesha rahega' gives goosebumps truly unforgettable. This feels like one of his most heartfelt performances."
Further, he shared an overall review and called the film a blockbuster. He also praised Agastya’s performance. He wrote:
"Agastya Nanda makes a confident and impressive debut. His performance is natural, intense, and impactful. Vijay Ahlawat also shines and adds solid strength to the narrative. The music, songs, and BGM are excellent, enhancing the patriotic and emotional core. The first half builds the story of Arun Khetarpal beautifully, while the second half moves at full speed, leading to a deeply emotional climax. The action and VFX are top-notch, tank battle sequences look raw, realistic, and unlike anything seen before. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film’s storytelling and screenplay are tight, with no unnecessary moments or weaknesses. BLOCKBUSTER."
