Big Fat Wedding Of Goenka Group's Heir Shashwat Goenka With Shivika Jhunjhnuwala

Big fat weddings are an important part of Indian culture. In this ongoing wedding season, we witnessed another larger-than-life wedding.

Business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka’s son Shashwat recently got married to his fiancée Shivika Jhunjhnuwala on January 29, 2016, which was also senior Goenka’s birthday.

Sanjiv exclaimed with joy and said:

“Yes, this is my best birthday ever, very happy, very excited.”

The doting mom, Preeti Goenka shared her happiness saying:

“Now I have another daughter in house. It’s great. I am feeling wonderful. Looking forward to it. I wish them a long and happy life together.”

Shashwat and Shivika tied the knot in Kolkata in a three-day affair. The wedding celebrations started on January 27, 2016 and concluded on January 29 with a grand wedding which was attended by over 7500 guests. The wedding ceremony took place at ITC Shonar Bangla.

The guest list included some of the big-shot industrialists, political leaders, cricketers, Bollywood stars and other celebrities.

Business bigwigs like Ambanis, Sunil Mittal, Rajashree Birla, Udya Kotak, Pawan Munjal, Dilip Shanghvi and Sajjan Jindal were seen having a gala time there.

Other celebrities who came to bless the lovely couple were Farhan Akhtar, Rituparna Sengupta, Asha Bhosle, Chanda Kochhar, Piyush Goyal, YC Deveshwar, Mamata Banerjee, P. Chidambaram, Tarun Tahiliani, Anamika Khanna, Arun Jaitley, Ajay Piramal, Raju Hirani, Hari Bhartia and many others.

The couple looked stunning on their D-day in Tarun Tahiliani ensembles. For other occasions like the reception and sangeet, the bride chose to wear Anamika Khanna creation and groom looked dapper in Raghavendra Rathore's outfit.

Shashwat Goenka, the groom heads Sanjiv Goenka Group’s retail business, while his beautiful bride, Shivika is the daughter of Surya Jhunjhnuwala, who heads Naumi Hospitality in Singapore.

The couple exchanged the varmala at ‘Sunderbans’ inside an inverted lotus-shaped mandap, followed by fireworks and ringing of bells.  

The spectacular wedding left everyone amazed. The highlights of the wedding included a wide and sumptuous variety of cuisines like Sindhi, Parsi, Marwari, Peruvian, Sri Lankan, etc., stunning performance by theatre group, Cirque du Soleil on the sangeet ceremony, and amazing performances on Bollywood numbers by the guests and relatives.

What grabbed everyone’s attention was the chocolate chandelier and more than 50 types of desserts at the sangeet ceremony. The guests indulged in some of the finest cuisines across the globe. The culinary platter included an exotic blend of European grills, Magadhi thali, Italian burrata bar, Swiss delights, traditional Indian mithais, western confectionery and East Asian food.
