However, one of Benny's recent comments has been targeted on social media. It so happened that Benny revealed the moment Selena gave him a 'helpful nudge' and he realized that the singer was his 'girlfriend'. However, one line from that statement has been singled out, and people are bashing Benny on social media for it. So, here's what happened.
A video of Benny Blanco has recently surfaced on social media. The video is from Benny's appearance on the podcast Friends Keep Secrets, where he shared details about a night when he and Selena talked about their relationship status. According to him, during that time, he and Selena had nothing concrete, and she was about to leave for New York.
Benny said he was asleep and Selena woke him up and asked him, 'What are we?' Benny went on to add that his now-wife questioned what she should say if someone asked her about him in New York. Benny replied, 'I don't know'. However, it was in that very moment that he realized that Selena was his girlfriend. Benny said:
"And I said, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘What are you supposed to say?’ And she said, ‘Well, I’m asking you.’ And in that very moment, I realized that she was my girlfriend and I had no other; I didn’t really have an option. And I wanted it, and she gave me, like, the helpful nudge that I needed."
Benny, in the same interview, said that he 'didn't have any option', and Selena gave him a helpful nudge that he needed. While this is a sweet recollection of Benny's memory, Selena's fans didn't find it to be too 'cute'. They singled out the 'didn't have option' line from Benny's statement and started bashing him on social media, saying that it was a bit 'disrespectful'.
Hitting at Benny, one of the critics said, "I didn’t have an option is a crazy statement. Selena deserves so much better." Another user penned, "Omg… out of all the embarrassing things he’s said about her… This is the worst one." Neither Benny nor Selena has reacted to the backlash the former is facing for his recent statement.
It was before their marriage that, on The Today Show, Benny Blanco shared sweet moments from their relationship. He went on to add that Selena was the first one to confess her feelings; however, "she said it (I love you) a few times by mistake." Benny shared that during the time they started dating, Selena had hand surgery and was coming out of anesthesia, and she told him, 'I love you'.
Benny, being surprised, asked her to go back to bed. However, as their relationship progressed, Benny eventually wanted to confess his feelings too. It was Selena who, according to Benny, said that before him. Benny said:
"And I was laying in bed with her and we were about to say, and then she said it before me. She steals my moment! She stole it.”
