More about the Battle of Galwan

The film, Battle of Galwan, is inspired by the 2020 fight between India and China. According to multiple reports, in June 2020 a conflict broke out between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Galwan valley and the Salman Khan starrer features the same story. According to Al Jazeera report, the clash was triggered by a dispute over two Chinese observation towers and tents, which the Indian officials claimed to be "built on its side of the LAC." The fight was a hand-to-hand combat. As per Reuters’ report:

"About 900 soldiers of both sides were involved in the hand-to-hand combat that followed when they beat each other with rocks and wooden sticks embedded with nails."

While reports say that the Battle of Galwan is based on a true story, there have been reports that state the film is based on a chapter of the book, India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The book was published in 2022 and highlighted the sacrifices of Indian troops during the battle. Salman played a prominent role in the movie and has become the heart of the film through his portrayal of Colonel B Santosh Babu.
