However, her wish of living a simple life remained unfulfilled as she died just few days after her dreamy proposal on her birthday vacation.
Reportedly, it was after 11 hours that her fiance, Joe McCann, informed her family about her death, and claimed that she died by suicide. He also reportedly stated that she had hanged herself. But her family and friends dismissed the angle; they requested a fair investigation into the matter. To everyone's surprise, layers unfolded in the case.
Ashlee often shared glimpses of her happy life on Instagram. From sharing lifestyle content to posting pictures with her beau, Joe McCann. The two have been together for almost 1.5 years. Ashlee shared a photo on November 19, 2025, with Joe McCann, where they were seen enjoying a match day. The two posed together, and they looked in love.
However, one of her followers spotted Joe McCann's ill intentions and gave a warning in the comments. The user claimed to tell Ashlee that the man would harm her and she should just leave him. The comment can be read as "He is going to harm you, get out." Now, her followers are shocked at how the man had predicted Ashlee's fate five months before her death. Users flooded the reply section. One user wrote, "Bro, you must be a fortune teller or something." Another one wrote, "My question is, how did so many people predict this via screen?? I’ve been through comments, and so many people warned her months back."
Not only did Ashlee's fans warn her about her boyfriend's behaviour, but they also noticed his angry stares. In a carousel post from one of Ashlee's date nights with her then-beau, Joe McCann. The two were enjoying a special time on a flight, eating food, and enjoying each other's company.
However, fans were quick to notice how Joe McCann gave Ashlee an angry look, which seemed like he had an issue with her. Ashlee also shared a video of their time together, wherein he was clicking her video, and he seemed uninterested. Fans quickly shared their opinion on the same and revealed how Joe's eyes tell a different tale about their relationship.

Recently, a report by TMZ revealed shocking details of what happened hours before her death. The entertainment US portal claimed that Ashlee and Joe had a heated fight at the Zuri Zanzibar resort. North Unguja Regional Police Commander, Benedict Mapurija, also revealed that the fight escalated to the point that hotel staff had to intervene and separate the two into different rooms.
After which, the hotel staff alerted the local authorities about the dispute between the couple and a report was filed at Nungwi Police Station. However, it was after this fight that Ashlee was found unconscious in her villa. She was soon rushed to a hospital, where she died the following day, as per the police authorities. It is worth mentioning that reports claimed that Ashlee died by suicide, but officials have not issued a statement confirming the same. They have continuously stated that the case is being investigated.
