Asha Bhosle's granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, breaks down during the last rites of her 'dadi' while meeting friends and acquaintances who came to pay their last respects.
With Asha Bhosle's sudden demise, ends the golden era of Indian music. She was the one who lived life on her terms, took accountability for her mistakes and fixed them. However, one person after Asha Bhosle, who remained close to her till the very end, was her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle. She was splitting the image of herself and was always around her after growing up.
On April 13, 2026, Asha Bhosle's last rites were held, and people from politics and the entertainment industry paid their last respects. Zanai looked heartbroken and was struggling to keep herself together. She broke down in front of her rakhi brother, Mohammed Siraj, while celebrities like Tabu and Vicky Kaushal tried to give her strength. Zanai was dressed up in a white-hued anarkali. Her hair was tied at the back, and her eyes showed the pain she was going through.
For the unversed, Zanai Bhosle is the daughter of Anand Bhosle and Ahuja Bhosle. She was born in 2002, and she studied at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. She also has a brother, Ranjay Bhosle. However, not much is known about him. Zanai often used to be appear with her dadi, Asha Bhosle. She even accompanied her during her concert on her 90th birthday in Dubai.
Asha Bhosle's legacy will live on forever through her granddaughter, Zanai. The legendary singer made sure that Zanai followed her path. She started teaching her from a young age. And when Zanai was just 12 years old, she made her singing debut in the 2013 film, Mai, which also featured the late legendary singer.
Talking about her granddaughter's journey, Asha Bhosle revealed that she had done everything from singing, acting, TV shows, stage shows, walking on a ramp, and now she was teaching her granddaughter as a playback singer. She went on to reveal that Zanai had a beautiful voice, which is a mixture of Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar. She said:
"I have done everything I want in life - singing, acting, TV shows, stage shows. I also recently walked the ramp during a fashion show. I think my next target is to groom my grand-daughter as a playback singer. She has a very wonderful voice - a mixture of mine and Lata didi. I want to prepare her as a singer myself."
On April 11, 2026, Asha Bhosle was admitted to the hospital after she suffered cardiac and respiratory issues. As per a report in the Hindustan Times, Asha Bhosle wasn't keeping well for the past few months. She was critical when she was admitted in the hospital. On April 12, 2026, she took her last breath. It is worth noting that Lata Mangeshkar also died on a Sunday, on February 6, 2022.
Asha Bhsole was just 16 years old when she decided to elope with her personal secretary, Ganpatrao Bhosle, who was 15 years older than her. However, after being in an abusive first marriage and three kids later, Asha Bhosle decided to break off her wedding in 1960. The famous singer gave love another chance when she fell for six years younger composer, Rahul Dev Barman, after being with him for a long time. However, RD Burman's family wasn't happy with the marriage.
