Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAngelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were once regarded as Hollywood’s power couple and popularly called 'Brangelina'. However, their seemingly happy marriage hit a rough patch within two years. The couple married in 2014 after years of romance. Before their marriage, the former couple expanded their family by adopting children and welcoming their biological kids.
Now, nearly a decade after one of Hollywood's most talked-about breakups, fresh claims have emerged suggesting that Jolie may have once hoped for a reconciliation following the couple's dramatic 2016 split. However, sources close to Pitt allege that any possibility of getting back together was ultimately rejected by the actor, setting the stage for years of legal battles and family estrangement.
According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, individuals close to Pitt believe part of the tension between the former couple stemmed from Jolie allegedly wanting to repair their relationship after the infamous private jet incident in 2016. However, a source familiar with Jolie's side strongly disputed that narrative, stating that the actress was focused on family healing rather than rekindling the romance. The source claimed that Jolie participated in years of family therapy alongside Pitt and their children in an effort to help everyone recover from the events that led to the divorce.
Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in 2016 after they had an alleged serious argument on a private jet. Within a week after the fight, Angelina thought of parting ways and thus filed for divorce. In her court document, Angelina alleged that an intoxicated Brad physically abused her and also mistreated her children. Her lawyers said:
"While Pitt's history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him."
Back in 2016, many rumours about Brad Pitt cheating on Angelina Jolie while they were still married began circulating online. In fact, a source told The New York Post that Angelina filed for divorce after catching Brad with her co-star, Marion Cotillard. Brad was rumoured to be cosying up with Marion for months during the duo’s filming of the World War II drama in London. The source revealed that Angelina had hired a private investigator to keep an eye on her then-husband, Brad. It was Angelina’s PI who discovered that Brad was cheating on his wife of two years with Marion.
Angelina and Brad’s divorce was finalised on December 30, 2024. At the time, Angelina’s lawyer, James Simon, told People that Angelina had filed for divorce eight years ago in 2016 and moved out along with her children from the homes they had shared with him. Since then, the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star has been focusing on family to recover, heal, and find peace. The former pair share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
While Pitt eventually moved on and found love with jewelry executive Ines de Ramon, Jolie has largely remained focused on her children, health, and career. Over the years, the actress has rarely been linked to anyone romantically, choosing instead to devote her energy to raising her family and rebuilding her life after the highly publicized divorce.
In a recent interview with Variety, Jolie reflected on how her children encouraged her to embrace life again after years of personal struggles. The actress admitted that she had lost part of herself for a period of time but credited her children with helping her rediscover her confidence and independence. She was quoted as saying:
"I think my fighting spirit is finally back. I lost it for a bit. I got kind of taken down a little bit, and it's coming back in large part thanks to my children, who are now older, and encouraging it."
Recent reports have suggested that Brad Pitt's relationship with his six children remains strained following his long-running split from Angelina Jolie. According to recent reports by Page Six, the F1 star currently has only limited contact with his children, several of whom have reportedly stopped publicly using the Pitt surname.
The reports surfaced around the same time that Pitt reportedly secured a significant evidentiary win in his ongoing legal dispute with Jolie over Chateau Miraval, the French winery they once co-owned. A source alleged that Jolie has distanced the children from their father over the years, particularly those who were once believed to share a close bond with him.
Neither Pitt nor Jolie has publicly addressed the latest claims. But what are your thoughts on it?
