Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are proud owners of five houses. Going by the reports, he has added another house to the list of his properties.

One of the most prominent and powerful families of Bollywood, the Bachchan family is known for their work and the extravagantly luxurious life they live. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are proud owners of five houses, Prateeksha, Janak, Jalsa, Vatsa and another one, that was bought in mid-2013. Going by the reports, Amitabh added another house to the list of his properties.

Before moving on to that, let us give you a little backstory about Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's residence, Prateeksha. This is the first house that Big B had bought in Juhu, where he lived with his parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. It was Amitabh's father, who had named this house, Prateeksha, to symbolise stability. After the demise of Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, Amitabh had kept their rooms intact. In 2007, Amitabh's son, Abhishek Bachchan's grand wedding with Aishwarya Rai had taken place in Prateeksha.
Adding another home to his properties' list, Amitabh Bachchan reportedly bought a 5,184 sq ft duplex apartment in Mumbai. According to a report published in Moneycontrol.com, the duplex apartment is on the 27th and 28th floor with six parking lots. Big B paid a stamp duty of Rs 62 lakh for the property worth Rs 60,000 per square foot, making it a Rs 31 crore worth apartment. Amitabh Bachchan is not the only celeb to have an apartment in this building named Atlantis. Sunny Leone and Aanand L. Rai are also proud owners of property worth Rs 16 crore and Rs 25 crore, respectively. The under-construction property that Amitabh invested in was bought in December but was registered in April.
Even if you have been living under the rocks, you would know about the Sunday ritual that used to take place outside Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's Mumbai home, Jalsa, in pre-COVID times. Every evening, the gates of Jalsa were flung open so the throng of people baking in the sun for hours could catch a glimpse of Mr Bachchan. For more than three decades, Amitabh had greeted his fans from all over the world, standing on the makeshift podium at the gate of Jalsa. The power couple, Amitabh and Jaya live with their family, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan in this massive bungalow.

Giving a backstory about Jalsa, Amitabh Bachchan had shared a piece of trivia on the 46th anniversary of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's film, Chupke Chupke's release. Sharing a picture with his Chupke Chupke co-star and wife, Jaya Bhaduri, Amitabh had written, ""Chupke Chupke" our film by Hrishikesh MUKERJI.. closing today at 46 years ..!! This house you see in the picture is Producer NC Sippy’s house .. we bought it , then sold it , then bought it back again .. rebuilt it .. this is our home now JALSA!! Many films were shot here .. Anand, NamakHaram , Chupke Chupke , Satte pe Satta , and many more..."
According to the reports published in The Times Of India, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan not only own properties in various parts of India but also a 3175 sq m residential property in Brignogan Plage, France. Jaya also owns a 1.22-hectare agricultural plot worth Rs 2.2 crore in Kakori area of Lucknow. Not only her, but Big B also owns a 3-acre plot worth Rs 5.7 crore in Daulatpur area of Barabanki district. The actress-turned-politician had claimed assets worth Rs 500 crore in 2012 and in 2018, the amount had doubled.
