When the rumours didn't die down, the actor shared a press note and slammed the gossip.
After days of claims that already-married Arjun Bijlani is dating Mouni Roy, the former made sure to set the record straight. He addressed the buzz and slammed those who reported that they are romantically involved. He called out those spreading rumours that friends of 15 years have suddenly become a couple.
Arjun stated that sometimes people simply show up for each other during their tough times. And that not all friendships have a romantic angle. He wrote:
"Dear clickbait pages, two people who've shared a friendship for 15+ years don't suddenly become a couple because a gossip page needs a headline. Sometimes, people simply show up for each other, especially when a friend is going through a difficult time. Not every friendship needs a romantic angle for views. A little fact-checking before publishing would go a long way. Let's be responsible with the narratives we create."
He even expressed disappointment over pages that published the story without verifying it. He added that not all interaction between a man and a woman means they are in love. He concluded the statement by writing:
"We request media pages to verify facts before spreading misleading stories that unnecessarily invade people's personal lives and create confusion. Responsible journalism builds credibility. Clickbait doesn't."
On May 14, 2026, Mouni Roy took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture note. She addressed how a certain section of the media has been sharing false narratives about her and Suraj. She confirmed that she and Suraj have decided to part ways and are taking time to address the matters privately and amicably.
Mouni further revealed that due to evolving personal priorities, the two have mutually chosen to move forward on separate paths with respect and understanding. She added that they want to navigate this phase thoughtfully and privately as they want to cherish the friendship they shared in times to come. She wrote:
"After thoughtful reflection on evolving personal priorities, we have mutually chosen to move forward on separate paths with respect and understanding. At this point, we are focused on navigating this phase thoughtfully and privately. We will endeavour to cherish our friendship in times to come. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, respect for our privacy, and the continued support extended to us during this time. Mouni and Suraj."
Earlier, in an interview with News18, Mouni talked about her love story and shared that she has been a hard-core romantic person who believed in the beauty of old-school love and for her, writing letters and having long conversations mattered a lot. She revealed that she had known Suraj for five years, and it was not a forced relationship but something that grew organically.
After their divorce, a lot was said; many believed that Mouni's ex-husband, Suraj, used her for money, while some claimed that he had an extramarital affair. But Mouni didn't let details of what went wrong in her marriage be in the media.
