Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleAlpha, Yash Raj Films' first-ever female-led YRF Spy Universe offering, is finally out after multiple postponements. Fans have already filled theatre seats to watch it, even on a weekday. The main cast includes Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, and it was released worldwide on July 3, 2026. The movie focuses on 'Sita' (Alia Bhatt), who is raised from childhood as an assassin by her father figure, 'Baba' (Bobby Deol), as part of an illicit Alpha soldier program.
The movie's plot leaves the audience largely divided, with some lauding the effort while others complain about its pacing. If you are wondering whether the movie is a hit or miss, check out what the X reviewers are saying.
Alpha viewers are abuzz with praise for Sharvari's acting. Notably, after the trailer was released, there were complaints that she had less screen time, but the movie more than compensated for it. A fan wrote on X, "Sharvari Stole The Show", while another stated, "People are raving about Sharvari's performance, praising it way more than Alia Bhatt, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor." Sharvari's co-star, Alia Bhatt, also earned praises, with her entry scene particularly dominating social media.
Many gushed over Alia's introductory scene, where she is seen eating fries in a tank top and then launching some impressive kicks at her opponents, taking them down single-handedly. Before the movie released, many expressed doubt that the actress would be able to pull off the action sequences; well, she clearly did! One commented, "For the first time in the YRF Spy Universe, a woman is leading the movie. Alpha delivers one of the best entries in the entire franchise: banging BGM, crisp & action-packed. In one word: Sexy. I'm absolutely obsessed."
Another stated, "Good start. Alia's entry & the action sequence were really good, She's doing well. I did feel the pacing was off at times, with a few scenes & convo feel stretched. Sharvari good. Still feel Luthra should've been there instead of Anil. He feels dull." While Alia entry and Sharvari's acting ate, Anil Kapoor's role failed to impress many. They also pointed out the poorly paced plot and that the overall impact did not hit. However, they praised the VFX, camerawork and other technical aspects, with one saying, "Cinematography & Camera work already mogging war 2 & tiger 3." Another stated, "CGI and VFX looks good enough."
'Kabir' from War is back and how! Though War 2 failed to impress fans, Hrithik Roshan bagged nothing but praises. His appearance in Alpha just felt right, and he blended with the two leading ladies perfectly. The scene where Alia, Sharvari and Hrithik stand with their backs to each other, ready to tackle the thugs together, has emerged as one of the movie's fan favourites. "Hrithik Roshan's cameo is the only moment that truly brings excitement and relief to the film," an X user wrote.
Another commented, "HRITHIK ROSHAN [fire emojis] CLAPPING and WHISTLES in THEATRE.. unable to hear dialogue.. CRAZZY STUFF GOING ON. WHAT A CAMEO - WHAT SCREEN PRESENCE." The fan even shared that the screams and whistles for Hrithik's entry were louder than the theatre's sound system, which tells us it was nothing short of a blockbuster. A YRF spy thriller and Hrithik is an absolute killer combo, which the 52-year-old proved once again. Overall, if we ignore the minor plot holes and pacing issues, Alpha is worth a watch.
