Ajit Pawar's sudden demise in a plane crash left everyone shocked. His mom could sense something as she insisted on watching her son on TV.
Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar passed away on January 28, 2026, in a tragic plane crash. 66-year-old Ajit Pawar was en route from Mumbai to Baramati to attend a meeting, and he was travelling in a Learjet 45 (Registration: VT-SSK) operated by VSR.
If the reports are to be believed, the chartered aircraft faced difficulties at the final approach, and Ajit Pawar, along with four others, lost their lives due to the crash that took place. Ajit Pawar's demise caused a shockwave around, and Sharad Pawar recently penned an emotional post, asking people not to link it to politics. Another report recently suggested how Ajit Pawar's mother, Asha Pawar could sense something was wrong.
As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Ajit Pawar's farmhouse manager, Sampat Dhaigude revealed that the late deputy CM's mom could sense something was off and she was insisting on watching her son on TV, and even asked if 'Dada had an accident'. The other staff members, to prevent Asha Pawar from knowing about what happened, disconnected the TV and put her phone on flight mode, and told her nothing happened.
Asha thought that Ajit had a minor injury, while she was sensing something and even started walking out of the farmhouse, saying that she needed to see her son. After many attempts, the staff members finally managed to take her inside the bungalow. Sampat Dhaigude revealed:
"We were telling Asha Tai that nothing had happened. But she had already started walking outside the farmhouse, saying that she needed to see Dada. She didn't listen to anyone. Finally, we reluctantly took her to the bungalow in Baramati."
Ajit Pawar was in Baramati for a public meeting related to the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections, and it was only four days before the accident that the late Deputy Chief Minister met his mother. He arrived at his home in the morning and talked with his mother for 15 minutes. Ajit Pawar's sudden demise left everyone in utter shock. Besides Ajit Pawar, other victims were his Personal Security Officer, Vidip Jadhav, aircraft attendant Pinky Mali, pilot Captain Sumit Kapur and co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak.
Ajit Pawar was travelling in a Learjet 45, which is a mid-sized private jet used for charter and official travel (Registration: VT-SSK) operated by VSR, which reportedly encountered glitches in the final approach. It was initially suspected that a technical glitch was the reason for the plane crash, while a detailed investigation was going on by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to check whether it was a potential technical failure or weather-related issues.
Everyone, including the political fraternity, remained shocked over the entire incident, while it was also revealed that weather conditions were clear, with visibility of around 3,000–3,500 metres at the time of the accident. Ajit Pawar was married to Sunetra Pawar, and they have two sons. Ajit Pawar's last rites will take place in Vidya Pratishthan ground in Baramati, Pune district, at 11 am on January 29, 2026.
We wish the family strength to deal with this tough time!
