Ajit Pawar's bodyguard Vidip Dilip Jadhav was a Mumbai Police constable who lost his life in the Baramati air crash while being on duty.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and the chief of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Ajit Pawar, passed away on January 28, 2026, in a plane crash. He was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati for political work and was aboard a Learjet 45. However, with Ajit Pawar, the crash also claimed the lives of his personal security officer, Vidip Dilip Jadhav, a flight attendant, Pinky Mali, along with Pilot-in-Command Sumit Kapur and Second-in-Command Shambhavi Pathak.
The Learjet 45 aircraft that took the lives of all five people left no survivors while attempting to land around 8.45 a.m. A cloud of grief has settled over the house of Ajit Pawar's personal security officer, Vidip Dilip Jadhav, who used to travel with Pawar and was responsible for coordinating all his personal security during his official movements.
According to a report by the Sunday Guardianlive.com, Vidip Dilip Jadhav was a Mumbai Police Constable. He was from the 2009 batch and was serving as the Personal Security Officer (PSO) to Ajit Pawar. He was known for his dedication and was on duty when he lost his life in the tragic plane accident. Vidip's sacrifice has drawn tributes from his colleagues and also leaders who called him as a committed officer for whom duty was always first.
The silent lanes of Vitawa, in Kalwa, Thane, are steeped in grief as residents mourn the death of Ajit Pawar's Personal Security Officer, Vidip Dilip Jadhav. The Free Press Journal spoke to the neighbours of Vidip, who described his loss as sudden, tragic and that they were trying to come to terms with it. The report mentioned that Vidip's family received the news late, and it is heartbreaking for his family as his kids are young. A neighbour staying close to Vidip shared that the family never spoke about his work or sought attention.
Ajit Pawar's Personal Security Officer, Vidip Dilip Jadhav, was known to be disciplined, respectful and calm with no sense of pride or authority. He never showed off that he was Ajit Pawar's bodyguard, as it was not in his nature. When FPJ spoke to Vidip's neighbours, one of them recalled that Vidip had suffered paralysis three times on duty. She shared:
"Dilip dada ko pichle 3 mahine mei paralysis ka attack bhi aaya tha jab woh duty pe jaare thei."
Ajit Pawar's Personal Security Officer, Vidip Dilip Jadhav's neighbours wants the government to support the family. They want action to be taken against VSR Aviation who owns the Leather Jet 45. The neighbour further spoke about Vidip's family and shared:
"Dilip dada ke family mei unki maa, unke pitaji, unki wife aur unki badi beti aur ek beta. Beti unki 13 saal ki hai aur beta unka 7 saal ka hai. Yeh unka parivar mei. Vithawa mei hum sabko 27 saal hoh gaye hume. Humara purana rishta hai aur yeh dukh ki baat hai. Pilots plane theek hai ya nai action lena chahiye."
The locality where Vidip stayed is unable to come to terms with the loss, and his family is shattered by the incident. Vidip's neighbour knew him as a humble, soft-spoken and grounded man who never flaunted his position, despite being given the security role of one of Maharashtra's senior-most political leaders. A neighbour speaking on Vidip shared:
"He was Ajit Pawar’s bodyguard, but you would never know it from the way he carried himself. He lived like any other common man here. Pehli baat aapko batana chahti hu ki hum 27 saal se yaha ek saath reh rahe hai. Hum ek family ke tarah reh rahe hai. Ajit Dada ke bodyguard Vidip Jadav ko humne morning mei duty pe jate huei dekha. Aur hume kabhi laga na tha ki woh duty pe jare hai, and phir aisi news aaye ki dada abh nai rahe. Hamare liye aur unke pariwar ke liye pure society ke liye bahut dukh ki baat hai."
