In an interview with the IANS, Amitabh ji had shared that he has no legacy to take and said,  "It is coming on to 50 years in public life... That is as far as I am personally concerned. But I have been in public life from the day I was born. I was always the son of Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan, eminent poet, litterateur, having public presence far greater than mine. I have no legacy. My father's legacy is what I am interested in, and I shall try always to further it." (Also Read: Sameera Reddy Talks About Facing Post-Partum Depression, Urges New Mothers To Love Themselves)

He had further added, "Memories with my father and time spent with him are personal... But, yes lessons learnt from him would certainly be passed on to Abhishek. These are family-oriented. Each family has its own conduct and behaviour, and they are executed in a manner where the next generation continues the legacy of the past. One prays and hopes that this temperament continues for posterity too."

In an interview with the Filmfare magazine, Amitabh ji had shared how his father used to celebrate his birthday by composing a poem for him. He had said, "It was a family tradition. But this tradition took an entirely new definition when, after my near-fatal accident in 1984 (when he nearly lost his life after a shooting accident on the set of Coolie), my father recited my birthday poem. It was like a new life for me. While reading the poem my father broke down. It was the only time I've seen him like that." He further added, "My father's poetry is much-missed, as is my mother's excitement on that day. The annual ritual of cake-cutting no longer interests me. It has been replaced by a plate of dry fruits.” (Don't Miss: Kanchi Kaul Posts A Heartfelt Wish For Hubby, Shabir Ahluwalia On Their Eighth Wedding Anniversary)
