After keeping their relationship away from the spotlight for years, Aamir Khan and his live-in girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, are finally set to say "I do." The couple will reportedly tie the knot in an intimate ceremony on Sunday, July 5, 2026, after the superstar said last year that he may not marry again in his sixties. The couple's wedding marks a new chapter in a love story that took 25 years to make a full circle.

Unlike the whirlwind romances of the celebrity world, Aamir and Gauri’s relationship was a slow-burn. It is a story of a decades-long friendship, of timing and finding each other again when they least expected to. Here's how the couple found their forever after all these years.

A love story that blossomed from a chance meeting after 25 years

Although Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt first met over two decades ago, life led them down different paths before they lost touch. Years later, they reconnected through one of Aamir’s family members. What started as a catch-up soon turned into a meaningful friendship, and, eventually, love. The Lagaan star reflected on their journey on Raj Shamani’s podcast in 2025. He shared:

"Gauri and I met by mistake and we connected and we became friends, and love happened."

It was on Aamir Khan’s 60th birthday in 2025 when he formally introduced Gauri to the world. During an intimate gathering with the media in Mumbai, the actor confirmed his relationship with Gauri. When he was asked how he fell in love with Gauri, Aamir revealed what made him fall in love with her. The superstar said:

“I was looking for someone I can be calm with, who gives me peace. And there she was.”

Before his third marriage to Gauri, Aamir was married twice: first in 1986 to Reena Dutta, when he was just 21. The former couple shares two children, Junaid and Ira, but after 16 years of their marriage, they called it quits in 2002. Aamir then married Kiran Rao in 2005 and welcomed their son, Azad, through surrogacy in 2011. The actor’s second marriage barely lasted a decade, and the two got divorced in 2021. Despite his divorce from Reena and Kiran, Aamir shares a cordial bond with them and has a blended family dynamic. Gauri, too, has been married once and has a son, Quinn, from the marriage.

After two broken marriages, Aamir has often admitted that he never imagined he would fall in love again. It was through therapy sessions with his daughter, Ira, that he eventually rediscovered himself and even healed the gaps with his family. When fate brought him to Gauri again, he once again realised that he could fall in love.

The actor revealed that therapy helped him rediscover himself before Gauri entered his life. He has often described Gauri as the person who brought peace and stability into his life, saying she arrived at exactly the right time. Speaking on Raj Shamani's podcast, the actor reflected on how he found love again, saying:

"Before I met Gauri, I felt like I had aged, and who will I find at this age. Also, my therapy started, and I understood that I need to love myself first and make myself healthy. So, I worked on that."

Gauri Spratt fell for the man, not the superstar

One of the most refreshing aspects of Aamir and Gauri's relationship is how organic it all feels. Gauri never viewed Aamir through the lens of Bollywood stardom. Raised in Bengaluru, she wasn't particularly interested in Hindi cinema and had watched only a handful of Aamir's films before they began dating. When asked what attracted her to him, Gauri's answer was simple. In his words:

“She grew up in Bangalore, and her exposure was to different kinds of films and arts. So she doesn’t watch Hindi films. She has probably not seen much of my work, too. She doesn’t see me as a superstar but as a partner.”

Aamir Khan introduced Gauri to the world during his 60th birthday celebrations in March 2025, confirming they had been together for over two years. He later revealed that, emotionally, he already considered their relationship a marriage. "Gauri and I are really serious about each other... In my heart, I'm already married to her," Aamir had shared earlier this year.

The couple also reportedly moved in together in early 2026, further strengthening their commitment before deciding to formalise their relationship. While the 61-year-old actor had previously admitted that he is committed, he wouldn't want to marry again, saying it looks odd to marry in his sixties. But it looks like that perspective has changed now.

Aamir and Gauri have chosen to keep their celebration simple, unlike the extravagant weddings Bollywood typically sees. The couple is expected to have a registered marriage at Aamir's Mumbai residence, attended only by immediate family and close friends.
