But it seems all might not have been well between the couple since then as Sophia Bush filed for a divorce from her husband, Grant Hughes on August 4, 2023.
Many people are shocked by the couple's choice to call it quits. As per reports by People, a source has confirmed that Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes had known each other for a decade. They got to know each other while they were vacationing in Nicaragua. They came closer at that time, but due to their work commitments, their friendship did not turn into a relationship. However, Sophia and Grant developed a closer friendship during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The source said:

The former couple, Sophia and Grant first gave a hint about their budding romance amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Their friendship developed when they started communicating more frequently and exchanging books in 2020. In June 2021, the duo made their engagement public. And they eventually got married last year on June 11 at the City County Clerk's Office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The news of their divorce came into the limelight seven weeks after the couple, Sophia and Grant celebrated their one-year- marriage anniversary. Both individuals took to their respective Instagram handles to share their heartfelt emotions on completing a year of togetherness. As of now, Sophia has deleted all pictures of the couple from her Instagram and has changed her name from Sophia Hughes to Sophia Bush. The Chicago P.D. actress had mentioned in her now-deleted anniversary post that marrying Grant was the best decision of her life. She penned:
“Today marks 365 days of calling you ‘husband’. Best decision of my life. It still feels just like this. Ecstatic. Running toward the future, grinning and laughing, together. I love you, my favorite. Happy Anniversary.”
The anniversary post on Grant Hughes's Instagram handle still remains. In his post, he mentioned that of the seven billion people on the planet, Sophia is his favourite. He penned:
"Happy 1st Anniversary, my love! What a full, beautiful, dynamic, exciting, growth-filled year we’ve had together. I truly love doing life with you! As the card I gave you this morning said: 'There are seven billion people on this planet. You are my favourite.'"

Grant Hughes is an entrepreneur. He co-founded a machine learning software company, FocusMotion. Hughes currently backs a number of other businesses, and most recently, launched Drink Good Wine, a firm that sends natural wines directly to consumers' front doors. Sophia and Grants told Vogue that their mutual love of travel and commitment to helping others brought them together.
For the unversed, prior to marrying Grant Hughes, Sophia was involved with her One Tree Hill co-actor, Chad Michael Murray. They both got married in 2005. However, things did not go well with the couple, and they filed for an annulment in 2006. A close friend of Sophia had shared that She married Chad believing in the sanctity of the institution, but Chad did not share the same vision. Hence, the couple called it quits.
