Saira Banu Shares Raj Kapoor's Heart Attack Left Dilip Kumar In Tears: 'Sahab's Voice Was Choking'

Veteran actor, Saira Banu recalled how Dilip Kumar was left in tears after his childhood friend, Raj Kapoor suffered sudden heart attack.

Veteran actress, Saira Banu is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of her generation. She has worked in blockbuster films like Padosan, Junglee, Purab Aur Paschim, Hera Pheri, Duniya, Aman, Sagina, Gopi, Aarop, and many more. Talking about her personal life, Saira Banu was married to the legendary actor, Dilip Kumar. For the unversed, the duo first met when Saira was just a 12-year-old girl. After living a blissful married life for 55 years, their togetherness came to end when Dilip Kumar left for the heavenly abode on July 7, 2021.

Saira Banu has been sharing some lesser-known anecdotes about her late husband, Dilip Kumar's life ever since she made her Instagram debut. And the same happened on August 10, 2023, when the veteran actress dropped a picture of Dilip Kumar and his childhood friend, Raj Kapoor. In the picture, the childhood friends can be seen enjoying their time together. While Raj Kapoor was seen playing a harmonium, Dilip Sahab was cheering up for him by whistling.

Sharing the picture, Saira Banu penned a long note and talked about Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar's friendship. The veteran actress shared that the legendary actors were childhood friends and they grew up in the same city, Peshawar. Saira further mentioned how Dilip and Raj shifted to Bombay and started working at "Bombay Talkies". She also said that both the actors were no less than siblings and they loved each other like anything. In her words:

"Dilip Sahab and Raj Kapoor were childhood friends. They were both born in peshawar, their native city and as they grew up, they studied at "Khalsa College", in Bombay. Later on, they spent days in their formative years at "Bombay Talkies" where they worked under the scrutinizing care and guidance of stalwards like Devika Rani, the owner, Mr. Shashadhar Mukherji, producer and the elite company of superstar Ashok Kumar."

Further, in the note, Saira Banu shared recalled an old incident and shared how Dilip Kumar was left heartbroken when Raj Kapoor suffered a heart stroke. Talking about the same, she mentioned that Dilip Sahab was abroad when the unfortunate incident happened, however, he returned the same day to be there with his friend. She also shared how Dilip Kumar talked to an unconscious Raj Kapoor about their days in Peshawar. In his words:

"I have just come back from Peshawar and brought back the 'Khushboo' of Chapli Kebabs to temp you. We will go together and walk through the bazaar as we used to and enjoy the kebabs and Rotis. Raj wake up and stop acting. I know you are a great actor, but you have to take me with you to the courtyard of the house in Peshawar. Dilip Sahab's voice was now choking, and tears were streaming down as he spoke to his dearest friend, lying unconsious on the bed."

When Saira revealed her plans to turn Dilip Kumar's bungalow into a museum

For the unversed, as per the Supreme Court’s latest statement, Dilip Kumar’s bungalow in Pali Hill, Mumbai is all set to be demolished. The property would be replaced by a brand new posh multi-storeyed apartment and there would be a museum, built in memory of Dilip Kumar. Expressing her happiness about the same, in an interview with ETimes, Saira had shared that she possesses precious items belonging to Dilip Kumar, which will be displayed in the museum. Mentioning how madly she was in love with her Dilip Saab, Saira had said:

"As you know, I was completely mad about Dilip Saab, so you can imagine what all I want to keep there. I have everything with me, not just the costumes, but all his personal items, including his writings, books, trophies, and much more that you will discover once the museum is completed."
