Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh's film, Amar Singh Chamkila, was released on Netflix on April 12, 2024. The two stars portrayed the life of the Punjabi singer couple, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, and indeed showed their acting mettle. In addition, while Diljit is already renowned for his singing skills, Parineeti too, garnered much appreciation for her version of the songs Teri Mitti and Matlabi Yariyan.
However, recently, when Diljit Dosanjh hosted a concert in Mumbai, it was attended by a number of eminent celebrities, including Kriti Sanon, Isha Ambani, Anant Ambani, Shloka Mehta, Boney Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana with his wife, Tahira Kashyap, Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia, among others. However, Parineeti Chopra was absent from the concert, as no glimpses of her surfaced on social media. Thus, a Redditor claimed that Parineeti was not invited to Diljit's concert, and according to the user, the reason behind the same was Alia Bhatt and the Bollywood lobby. The Redditor claimed that the Bollywood mafia are trying to keep Parineeti out and doing what they did to Sushant Singh Rajput.

Soon after the Redditor made the claim, many other netizens started reacting to the same. One social media user penned, "'Maybe she could have sung with him'. Precisely why she was not invited." Many other netizens also discarded the Redditor's claim about Parineeti being sidelined in the industry. Among them, one netizen wrote, "Maybe she didn't attend it out of her own choice... Her husband is a politician... Elections are coming up... Could be related to that... Plus we have hardly seen her attending any public events for a long time.."

Earlier, in an interview with Film Companion, during the promotion of his film, Amar Singh Chamkila, Diljit Dosanjh talked about his and his co-star, Parineeti Chopra’s singing skills. He mentioned that scaling up to the real-life singing duo, Amar Singh and Amarjot Kaur was impossible for them, since the late singer and his wife used to sing in an enormously high pitch. Moreover, he talked about being uncertain of Parineeti’s singing skills. He stated:
“Even Parineeti, I did not have expectations from her because Amarjot’s part was tougher. Amarjot used to sing in a very high pitch. So, we have tried. I cannot sing like Chamkila and Parineeti cannot sing like Amarjot. We have only tried. Since in the film it is connected to the story, people might like it.”

On March 28, 2024, the trailer launch of the film, Amar Singh Chamkila was organised by the makers. During one of the segments of the event, Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra mesmerised everyone with their melodious voices. However, as soon as the video surfaced on social media pages, netizens took to the comment section to express their disappointment over Parineeti’s singing.
