Mallika Sherawat has been one of the most talented actresses in the showbiz world. She kickstarted her journey in the field by working on a lot of television commercials and a couple of music videos. Thereafter, she got her first noticeable break in films with the 2003-released movie, Khwaish. However, it was her subsequent portrayal in the film, Murder that gave her overnight stardom, and she was hailed as the sex symbol of the country at that time. Apart from her glamorous self, Mallika is also known for her unapologetic opinions, which have always grabbed the limelight.
Mallika Sherawat is one such celeb who has often made headlines for speaking her mind out on sensational topics, which end up being a controversy in her name. Something similar had happened in one of her old promotional events when she had openly bashed a journalist, who tried to criticise her views about India being a regressive country for women. Well, Mallika had based her opinions on hard facts, and she appeared to be extremely annoyed when the journalist misinterpreted her views and tried to criticise her. In response, Mallika tore upon the journalist and openly claimed:
“I think you need to do your homework well. I said Indian society is regressive for women, see the interview again Today I read in the newspaper, according to UNFPA, 40 per cent of Indian women are married below the age of 18, I think it is a very, very regressive state for women. And I stand by it. I never said I am not happy with India.”

Well, this old video of Mallika Sherawat recently resurfaced on the discussion forum, Reddit, and netizens were quick to take note of it. Taking to the comment section of the post, people began to pen their views on the same. Unanimously, Mallika got a lot of applause for giving a befitting response to the journalist with true facts that cannot be ignored. Many even commended the actress for being progressive in her views, way ahead of her times. While someone wrote, “God we didn’t deserve mallika. I feel so bad that her name was taken lightly just bc she did some adult scenes that are now so normal”, another user commented, “Definitely ahead of her time for such a backward industry.”
In a previous interview with ETimes, Mallika Sherawat had opened up about her journey into the film world and highlighted how she had to leave everything behind before entering into it. She admitted hailing from a conservative, Jat family in Haryana, and added that she had to break all her ties, including those with her parents, before stepping into the glamour world. She highlighted that she had to lose everything in order to achieve something in Mumbai.

In that same interview, Mallika also spoke about the other massive transformation in her life, when she decided to quit Mumbai and jetted off to Los Angeles for her Hollywood career. She revealed that this time too, she lost a fair share of relationships and friends. In her words:
“When I moved to LA, I lost a few precious friendships that I had in India, because when you are so out of touch, you kind of tend to lose them. So yeah, I have experienced a loss like that."
