Karan Johar and Kajol's friendship is known to everyone. However, once they hit a rough patch, which made many headlines back then. It so happened that Kajol's husband, Ajay Devgn's film, Shivaay clashed with Karan's, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in the theatres, leading to a misunderstanding between the two. Following this, they did not speak to each other for years.
As Karan Johar hosted Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty on the latest episode of Koffee with Karan 8, he discussed his and Ajay's old feud that created a rift between them for years. During the rapid-fire round of the show, when Karan asked Ajay to name his sworn enemy in the film industry, Ajay laughed and said:
“Once upon a time, it was you.”

Karan was shocked by Ajay's revelation and addressed their disagreement after the rapid-fire round. Talking about the same, Karan recalled that Ajay was gracious enough to move past their differences and added that they never looked back. The filmmaker said:
“Whatever the altercation was, and it was misunderstanding, misconception, we didn’t speak, Kajol and I didn’t speak. I’m sure he must have had a troubled time with his own wife because we are such close friends but he really was very gracious.”
Speaking along the same lines, Karan said that he and Ajay were in the same studio so he asked the actor to meet him. Then he went to Ajay’s van, who immediately said that they should just move past this episode, as they both are close to Kajol. Karan recalled:
“We were in the same studio and I said I want to meet him because he was there and he agreed to meet me immediately. He said ‘let’s not talk about anything. You are close to Kajol. We are one industry and we should…’ And it took a minute for us to go back to normalcy."

During the discussion, Karan and Ajay thanked each other for their maturity and the latter mentioned that they should never talk about it ever. Then, Karan laughed and added that Kajol warned him not to release a film on the same day with her husband. Calling it a sworn rule, Karan said:
“Kajol rang me up and told me, ‘never are you going to release on the same day with my husband’. I said ‘never again’. I said ‘I anyway don’t like to clash and perhaps that was the only time that we did. I said never with Ajay, anybody else, if it happens accidentally, we’ll see, but never with Ajay. That’s a sworn rule’.”
