In a recent interaction, Zakir Khan revealed the actual reason behind taking a break from stand-up comedy.
Stand-up comedian, Zakir Khan is a name that hardly needs any introduction. Best known for his related humour, Zakir carved a name for himself for his authenticity. However, after years of entertaining his fans, Zakir broke many hearts when he announced the news of taking a long break from work to focus on his health.
Ever since Zakir Khan spoke about taking a hiatus from work, there have been many speculations in the media about his health. Since there had been lot of speculations regarding Zakir’s break from work, the man himself addressed the rumours and revealed:
“The story about my break is that I had a lot of writing work that I hadn’t been able to do for the past six years. My health is a little bad, not very bad. What you’ve read on the internet is false. All these unnecessary things are just rubbish.”
In the same interaction, Zakir also mentioned that people are spreading false rumours about him and his fans should not believe the gossips. He also stressed to the point that his health issue is just minor and there is nothing critical about it. Revealing how people are misquoting his family, Zakir shared:
“The people writing it are also terrible, and on top of that, they mention that a very close family source has confirmed this. My family stays with me, so we see each other’s faces asking who said anything?”
For the unversed, a few months ago, Zakir Khan took to his Instagram handle to announce that he is taking a break from stand-up comedy, due to health. However, he didn’t mention the duration of his break. But, during one of his live shows in Hyderabad during his tour, ‘Papa yaar’, Zakir revealed that he hasn’t decided when he will return.
Speaking about his break from work, Zakir revealed that he would be taking a long break until 2030. While speaking to the audience, the stand-up comedian looked visibly emotional.
"I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028–29, or even 2030. It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things. So everyone present here right now is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you. Thank you so much."
Born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Zakir is the grandson of sarangi maestro, Ustad Moinuddin Khan. Since music was in his genes, Zakir found is calling in same. He pursued music and holds a diploma in sitar. However, destiny had other plans and Zakir landed into stand-up comedy. In 2012, he won Comedy Central's India's Best Stand-Up Comedian and since has taken up his profession in the same.
