Zaid Darbar is a popular social media influencer who has more than 5 million followers on Instagram. He is the brother of the famous content creator, Awez Darbar. Coming to his personal front, Zaid is happily married to actress, Gauahar Khan. The couple shares two sons, Zehaan and Farwaan. The duo has been regarded as one of the most loving couples in the TV industry. However, Zaid’s childhood was not a bed of roses. In a recent interview, he spoke about the following.
Zaid is the son of the renowned music composer, Ismail Darbar. He rose to fame with his music in the films, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. While Ismail had a successful music career, his personal life was going through a rough patch. Not many know that Ismail had two marriages. He first got married to Farzana Shaikh, mom of Zaid, Awez, Anam Darbar and Moonzarin Darbar. In a recent interview with Mirchi Plus, Zaid opened up about his parents’ divorce and how it took a toll on him. He was quoted as saying:
"My childhood has taught me a lot. When you are 10 and your parents get separated, and they get married again. Emotionally, we were damaged. Since the age of 12, I have lived alone, alone as in alone."
During the same conversation, Zaid shared that when he was just 10 years old, he understood that he had to work hard and make money. He mentioned at a young age, he also had to take responsibilities of his family. Zaid added that when his younger sister, Anam, was three years old, he had started working for their household. He recalled working as a dancer and trainer with Shiamak Davar’s troupe to earn money at the time. He was quoted as saying:
"I understood at the age of 10 that you have to work hard and you have to make money to manage your household. I understood that you can’t do anything without making money."
Earlier, in a chat with Vickey Lalwani, Ismail Darbar opened up about his first marriage. He shared that their differences were at a peak back then. The music composer mentioned that he moved out and had been living in a different house for two months. However, he didn’t inform his first wife and straight away got married to Ayesha for the second time. For the uninitiated, Ayesha, formerly Preeti, converted to Islam to tie the knot with Ismail. Ismail also spoke about his second marriage. Recalling the time, Ismail said:
"There was no conflict, just a growing distance between us. Our differences were at a peak then. I had actually moved out and had been living in a different house for two months. I didn’t tell her anything, and I straight away went and got married to Ayesha in Surat. After an argument with Farzana, I called Ayesha, and we went for a drive. After an hour, I stopped the car and asked her to marry me. She said yes. To be honest, I had started developing feelings for her. She admired my work and became attached to me after our long conversations."
Zaid tied the knot with the much-loved actress, Gauahar Khan, on December 25, 2020. It was Zaid who proposed to Gauahar within 20 days of their first meeting. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Zehaan, on May 10, 2023. Later, on September 1, 2025, they welcomed their second son, Farwaan.
