Others claimed that the actor went under the knife and lied about not getting any work done. Some X (formerly Twitter) users alleged that Zac got "Lip injections" as "His lips are fuller" now.
Another wrote, "He visited Kenny Rogers' plastic surgeon." A third stated, "Obviously reconstruction, the excuse was a broken jaw, but this looks pretty radical." A fourth wondered how he allegedly "changed the shape of your skull." Amid constant scrutiny of his look, Zach Efron once reacted to his plastic surgery buzz.
After a wave of plastic surgery rumors were sparked over Zac Efron's changed appearance, the actor himself addressed it. Among Zac's altered features, his jawline raised the most eyebrows. Reports by Entertainment Weekly claimed that even his mother wanted to know what happened to his jaw and was wondering if he went under the knife. In an interview with Men's Health, Zac revealed that his jawline changed after a terrible fall.
Zac said that he was trying to be like Tom Cruise in Risky Business by running around in his house in socks. Zac just wanted to have fun, but it turned into a bad fall when he slipped and smacked his chin against the granite corner of a fountain. The actor claimed to have lost consciousness, and when he came to his senses, "his chin bone was hanging off his face."
After the injury, Zac Efron began physical therapy with a specialist to keep the muscles in his face and jaw from overcompensating. But when he took a break from therapy, "The masseters just grew," he said, referring to the muscles used for chewing. "They just got really, really big," the actor added. He also shared that his mom told him about the buzz around his jaw, since he mostly stays away from social media.
Zac then addressed the viral claims about his plastic surgery and stated, "If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn't be able to do this work."
