In a recent interaction, the producer of Border 2, Nidhi Dutta, revealed the reason behind not casting Tabu in the latest franchise.
Sunny Deol’s much-awaited film, Border 2, is all set to get released on January 23, 206. Border 2 will feature a strong cast, which includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and more. However, Tabu, who played the role of Sunny Deol’s wife, is not seen in Border 2.
In an interview with IANS, producer, Nidhi Dutta revealed the reason behind not casting Tabu in Border 2. Daughter of J. P. Dutta, who is currently busy promoting the film, revealed that since Border 2 caters to a different battle from the 1971 war, only some of the actors are featured from the first part.
Nidhi also revealed the reason behind not casting Tabu in the film and shared that Sunny Deol, who played Tabu’s husband in the first instalment, portrayed a different character in Border 2. This was one of the main reasons Tabu was not cast in the film. In her words:
“Sunny Deol is not playing Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri in the film. You must have understood in all the assets from the film that Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, who he played in the first film, is a different character. So obviously, the wife will also be different".
The remake of the 1997 film Border would surely awaken the patriot in everyone and be released a few days before Republic Day. According to multiple reports, the cast of Border 2 has received whopping salaries. While the makers of the film have not revealed the cast's exact salaries, a report by Asianet News has shared an alleged amount. According to the same, Sunny Deol was the highest-paid actor of the film. Reportedly, he took home Rs. 50 crores for his role.
It is worth mentioning that Sunny was the highest-paid star in the 1997 film Border. According to reports, Sunny, who played the titular character in ‘Major Kuldeep Singh’, was paid Rs. 1.2 crore. Apart from Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh were also paid hefty sums for their powerful performances in the upcoming film. According to the same report by Asianet News, Varun Dhawan charged between Rs. 8 and 10 crore. On the other hand, Diljit Dosanjh took home Rs. 4-5 crore.
During a special event of Border 2, actor, Sunny Deol got emotional as he missed his late father, Dharmendra. During the same, he also revealed that the real inspiration behind him doing Border was Dharmendra’s film, Haqeeqat. The actor, who recently lost his father, concluded his words with, ‘main zyada kuch nahi bol paunga’.
