'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' executive producer recently opened up about whether there is a chance of Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen, returning on the show's 5th season.
After a months-long legal battle, restraining orders, and custody conflicts, it was certain that Taylor Frankie Paul and her former boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, would not appear on the upcoming The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5. But the show's creator has different views. Despite the court-ordered restrictions, he has spoken openly about the possibility of seeing both stars on the reality show. His comments, especially, come after the high-profile dispute between the duo halted production of the hit reality series.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' executive producer, Jeff Jenkins, recently sat down with Variety for a conversation. Needless to say, he was asked about Taylor Frankie Paul's ongoing legal dispute with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, and the possibility of her return. In turn, he admitted that he admires Taylor's ability to share her life openly on camera and hopes she continues to be part of the franchise going forward. In his words:
"To share her life on camera, she does it like breathing air. She doesn't edit herself. She's really built for this type of lane. So I'm very hopeful that she'll be back very soon, and I'm hopeful we can do all sorts of other projects with her as well."
Jeff's comments come at a significant time, as the show's fifth season is currently in production. However, the filming was temporarily paused earlier this year after significant legal developments between Taylor and her ex, Dakota. Meanwhile, the court hearing for their case is scheduled in the upcoming months. At the same time, fans have continued to speculate whether either or both of them will appear in future episodes of the show.
According to Jeff Jenkins, the biggest obstacle faced by the production is onboarding Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen, is the court orders placed between them. He explained that the duo has received official stay-away orders. In turn, it has made it nearly impossible for producers to film them together. Despite that, he mentioned that the makers are hopeful of bringing one or both of them to the series. Sharing the legal constraints, he said:
"If you watched the live feed from the judge's courtroom, both Dakota and Taylor have stay-away orders now that are official. We won't be able to shoot with them together, ever again, or at least for a very long time. But I'm very hopeful that we'll be shooting with both of them or either of them very soon."
Jeff also confirmed that they have received approval to move forward with Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. In turn, they are preparing to resume production. According to him, the cast is excited to return. However, most of the cast members have strong opinions about what happened between Taylor, Frankie Paul, and Dakota Mortensen.
The end of Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen's relationship has been one of the most talked-about storylines on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. They faced trust issues, emotional conflicts, and frequent breakups. Taylor later shared that shortly after the birth of their son, Ever, Dakota was unfaithful to her. The situation became more serious in early 2026 when unseen bodycam footage from a domestic incident in 2023 between the duo went viral. It showed Taylor physically attacking Dakota. But she called it a result of emotional manipulation and psychological distress.
The viral video had a major impact. ABC had to scrap the entire season of The Bachelorette featuring Taylor, Frankie Paul that had already been filmed. In turn, the judge issues multiple protective orders requiring them to stay apart. At the same time, Dakota got the temporary primary custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever, as proceedings continue.
