As per the latest updates, Bette Reilly was working at the Pleasant Hill Driving Range in Scarborough. She spent her childhood in southern Maine and was born to a big family. The size of the family was so big that during reunions, including Christmas Eve celebrations, a few of them were unaware of their connection with each other.
However, Bette shared a close bond with her first cousins. Apart from that, she was attracted to her aunts and uncles at the same time. She played basketball with her cousin Teresa Esposito when she was a student of the former Catherine McAuley High School in Portland. Bette and Teresa spent a lot of time with each other when they went to school together, and used to sing while playing the CDs of bands like Counting Crows and Rusted Root.
Teresa recently recalled her memories with Bette, saying that she could make anyone happy. Bette was also very protective of Teresa at the same time. On the other hand, Bette’s brother, Nate Walsh, said that he used to love spending time with his sister. He said that he connected in a better way with Bette after spending a long time in the military. He further stated:
“There didn’t even have to be words. Sometimes we’d just look at each other and start laughing uncontrollably. That’s the connection we had.”
As of this writing, Bette Reilly’s cause of death has not been confirmed. Although her identity was not revealed in the beginning, the news of the disappearance created headlines with a social media post by the Scarborough Fire Department, where they said that the police and Maine Warden Service were at Pond View Drive, looking for a missing person. Notably, the authorities also advised people to avoid the area since a search operation was ongoing.
The authorities claimed that Bette was walking near the edge of the water before she went missing. A diving team later found her in around 9 feet of water, and the entire area was cleared a few hours after the dead body was discovered by the authorities. According to WGME, Bette was a resident of Westbrook, and her identity was confirmed after the dead body was found.
The authorities were contacted around 20 minutes after Bette Reilly went missing. She was found 30 minutes after the search started. Furthermore, she was looking for golf balls the last time she was seen near the water. According to the Portland Press Herald, playing golf was one of Bette’s hobbies, along with watching movies and connecting with individuals on social media.
