Sophie Turner opened up about her dating life amid the buzz around her first look reveal for 'Tomb Raider' character, 'Lara Croft'. Read to know about it.
Sophie Turner is currently leading the headlines as Prime Video has released her first official look as 'Lara Croft' in the upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series on January 15, 2026. The newly-unveiled image features Sophie in the character's classic attire, including a green tank top, black shorts, and red-tinted sunglasses. Sophie's new look reveal has been making immense buzz online. It sparked interest in her personal life as well, with fans revisiting her dating history. Many are wondering who she is dating after her breakup with Peregrine Pearson. Recently, the actress has opened up about her relationship status.
Sophie Turner is currently rumoured to be dating Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. The dating speculation began around October-November 2025, when reports claimed the two went on secret dates in London shortly after their respective breakups (Sophie's split from Peregrine Pearson and Chris Martin's split from Dakota Johnson). Some outlets reported a definite chemistry and growing spark between the pair, noting they bonded over their shared British roots and love for music. In January 5, 2026, in a cover story for Net-a-Porter's PORTER magazine, Sophie Turner clarified her relationship status.
In January 2026, Sophie Turner told Net-A-Porter's PORTER magazine that she was single and had not been dating anyone recently. The actress revealed she had not "gone on a date in weeks, months". She explained that she is prioritising her professional life, including her recently announced role as 'Lara Croft' in the upcoming Tomb Raider series, as well as her family. She noted she only has the "capacity for work and family right now." She was quoted by PORTER magazine as saying:
"I haven't seen my friends or gone on a date in weeks, months! I just sack off parts of my life sometimes. I only have the capacity for work and family right now. But I'm working on it. I'll get there."
Sophie expressed disappointment that celebrities don't get to set the narrative of their own lives. She might have indirectly addressed her dating rumours with Chris Martin by saying so. The 29-year-old feels that people speculate a lot about celebrities' lives, including their secret dates. According to her, they mostly choose silence to let a matter die down rather than address it, because they don't want to reveal such details to the public. As per Sophie, it seems like "you can't stand up for yourself ever [against false narratives] so there's a feeling of helplessness and shame."
Sophie Turner also spoke about how tabloid articles are treated as facts, and sometimes even her mother calls her to ask about them. The actress was unhappy with the fishbowl of public dating, noting that she often hears her mother share rumours about her own life before she is ready to share them herself. She doesn't want to reveal certain aspects of her life to her family or anybody else, but since it's already out there in media reports, the choice to share or not isn't in her hands anymore. Sophie's exact words were:
"People take so much as fact these days. Any article that comes out, people go, 'Right, that must have happened.' You feel like you're gagged because silence is always the way to let something die out...I get calls from my mum going, 'Oh my God, darling, I didn't know this happened.' And I'm like, 'It might have happened, but I wasn't ready to tell you, let alone the world' You just don't have the narrative over your own story."
