Jordan Jones was allegedly involved in breaking up a fight when a suspect shot him and claimed his life. Here is what we know about him.
Georgia's sports community is still reeling from the tragic loss of Jordan Jones. The former college standout was shot and killed outside a bar in Acworth over the weekend. Subsequently, the authorities confirmed that the 28-year-old athlete was working as a security guard nearby at the time of the March 7, 2026 incident. Initially, the police reports indicated that he tried to break up a fight outside a local bar, but soon things got out of hand. Despite the immediate action, he eventually succumbed to his injuries. While the incident has shocked the local community, it has also aroused curiosity in many about who exactly Jordan Jones was and how was his future in football.
Jordan Jones was a local from Lawrenceville. Since a young age, he gained fame in his community as a strong, disciplined football player. Jordan attended Mountain View High School, where he first gained a reputation for his football skills. Eventually, he attended Mountain View High School and was immediately noticed for his athletic abilities and leadership among his teammates. Many of his school friends and coaches now recall him as someone who inspired others both on and off the field. After graduation, he returned to his school and worked as a substitute teacher and coach to shape the next generation of young athletes.
After completing high school, Jordan Jones continued his football career at the University of West Alabama, where he played linebacker for the team. Needless to say, Jordan shone with 211 tackles, 17 sacks, and five forced fumbles with one interception in his name. These scores enabled him to become one of the most standout defensive players on his team. Simultaneously, he made an impact on those around him, and his friends used to call him a "gentle giant" who cared deeply for them. Some of them now spoke to Fox 5 Atlanta about him, recalling his caring personality. In one of his friends' words:
"He was somebody who always brought everybody in. He's that big brother figure that always has his arm around you."
Jordan Jones was recently killed outside Saddle Bar in Acworth, Georgia. According to reports cited by TMZ, he worked as a security guard at the venue when a fight broke out among customers. Subsequently, witnesses revealed that he jumped in to calm the situation by separating the people involved in the tussle. However, after the conflict appeared to calm down, things took a violent turn when a suspect took out a firearm and shot Jordan.
Immediately, the authorities from the Acworth Police Department were called to the scene, who found that Jordan was suffering from a gunshot wound. Although they rushed him to the nearby Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, the young football enthusiast passed away due to the serious nature of his injuries. Later, the police arrested Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, 25, in connection with the shooting. Now, Daniel has been charged for multiple reasons, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery, while the case remains under investigation.
Before Jordan Jones' untimely death, he built a promising career for himself in professional indoor football. After college, he joined teams in the Indoor football league playing for Tulsa Oilers and San Antonio Gunslingers. Jordan's skills immediately made him a standout player and earned him respect within his league for his dedication to the game.
Even the Indoor Football League released a statement mourning his death and called him a "talented player and respected competitor." It was later revealed that before his death, Jordan was preparing to join the Michigan Arsenal of the Arena Football One league for the upcoming season, which would have taken his career to new heights
