Joel Dommett recently revealed the gender of his second baby with wife, Hannah Cooper. So, let's take a look at their relationship and how they met.
Joel Dommett is a well-known comedian and TV show host. He has established himself as one of the most familiar faces in the television industry, with a range of programmes including The Masked Singer, The Masked Dancer, I'm a Celebrity: Unpacked, and In with a Shout, among others. However, while the audience is well acquainted with his TV appearances, little is known about his life off camera.
Joel Dommett is married to the very gorgeous, Hannah Cooper. They are parents to a baby boy and are expecting their second baby. Amid that, let's take a quick look at who Hannah is and how the couple went from an online meeting to a soon-to-be family of four.
Hannah Cooper was born in Holland and has worked as a model since she was discovered in London as a teenager. She has collaborated with a number of well-known brands, including Warehouse, Barbour, M&S, Boux Avenue and GHD throughout her career. The gorgeous model has also established herself as an influencer, with a wholesome following of 144,000 on Instagram. However, that is not all. Hannah is also the ambassador for the charity, Brain Tumour Support, following her mother's brain tumour diagnosis in December 2020.
Fans have often been curious about how Joel Dommett and Hannah Cooper's love story began. The couple first connected in 2016 after the former's appearance on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! However, their first meeting was rather unorthodox. According to reports, Joel caught Hannah's eye after she contacted him on social media. The duo have incorporated a charming reference to how they first connected in their home, with a neon sign inspired by the 1996 film, Jerry Maguire's famous line "You had me at hello", though their sign reads: "You had me at emoji."
Joel and Hannah announced their engagement in 2017 in a sweet video. The comedian shared a clip of the door lock switching from 'Vacant' to 'Engaged', letting fans know they were all set to tie the knot. The wedding came two years later on the Greek island of Mykonos. The couple kept the group of attendees small. Their ceremony was presided over by their close friend and Love Island narrator, Iain Stirling, as they exchanged vows before friends and relatives during the beach service. Talking about the ceremony, Joel was quoted as saying:
"It was honestly so fun. I was fully prepared to say it was the best day of my life and pretend it was - because I've been lucky enough to do Bake Off and I've had these amazing experiences in my life - but it was genuinely the best day of my life! We had 28 people there. Some people have weddings where half the day is saying hi and bye to people. I wanted our closest friends and family to have a wonderful time."
Joel and Hannah started their family in 2023 by welcoming their first child, Wilde. The couple announced the arrival of their little bundle of joy, with Joel sharing a video of himself carrying a baby car seat from a hospital whilst joking, "Finally got to do the hot dad walk thing." Hannah and Joel are now expecting their second child, and the duo couldn't have been any happier and 'petrified'. Joel earlier reflected on being a parent to another baby and told The Mirror:
"The idea of looking after one child is one thing, but the idea of another kid being there and you having to look after that one – I just can't imagine how chaotic it's going to be."
Hannah Cooper recently sat for an interview with the Mirror as well. The model reflected on welcoming baby number two very soon and also spoke about the baby's gender. She revealed that while they know what they're having, she and Joel have decided to keep it a secret from the world. However, it's been increasingly difficult, as her firstborn, Wilde, appears to be adamant about telling everyone he meets, "including the Ocado delivery man," the baby's gender.
In the same conversation with the Mirror, Hannah reflected on how life completely changed when she and Joel became parents. She reflected on how "When you go on a first date with someone, you think, 'Oh, are they hot, would I maybe marry them?' I don’t think you really think about how they’re going to be as parents. That’s a massive one." Nonetheless, she feels that she hit the lottery when it came to her partner. She was quoted as saying:
"I think I’ve lucked out. I sometimes suspect he has more fun playing than Wilde does. As parents you always have to voice how you’re feeling; otherwise resentment builds. We voice everything to each other. If we don’t, we save it up for the podcast, for the nation to listen to!"
