After almost 20 years of 'Hannah Montana's' conclusion, most of the cast members have remained in the entertainment field. Read to know about their current whereabouts.
Disney sitcom, Hannah Montana, starring Miley Cyrus, has entertained masses for almost two decades. It was, and still is, a beloved show among people of all ages. Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011, centered on the double life of 'Miley Stewart', a typical teenager who secretly performs as the world-famous pop star, 'Hannah Montana'. The series catapulted Miley to global stardom and became one of Disney's most successful franchises, spawning films, soundtrack albums, and concert tours.
Hannah Montana's lead star, Miley Cyrus, is officially returning to Disney for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 24, 2026. This date marks exactly 20 years since the show's original debut in 2006. For the special content, Miley will sit down with Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, for an in-depth conversation about her Disney years and the creation of Hannah Montana, in front of a live audience. Ahead of that, here's a look at the cast's current whereabouts.
In Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus starred as 'Miley Stewart', an ordinary teenager living a not-so-ordinary double life as the secret international pop sensation, 'Hannah Montana'. Riding on the show's success, Miley built a successful career in pop music, with several award nominations and wins to her name. In August 2024, she became the youngest person ever to be named a Disney Legend for her impact on the company. In the same year, she won her first two Grammy Awards for her hit single, Flowers.
Miley Cyrus is currently riding the success of her visual album, Something Beautiful (released May 30, 2025), which earned a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2026. Besides her music ventures, at 33, she is also executive producing and starring in the upcoming anniversary special of Hannah Montana. Additionally, Miley expressed her wish to return to acting if the right script arises.
Emily Osment played 'Lilly Truscott', the best friend of 'Miley Stewart'. When 'Miley' appeared as her pop-star alter ego, 'Lilly' used the secret alias 'Lola Luftnagle' (and occasionally 'Lola LaFonda') to remain part of the entourage without revealing her bestie's identity. Since the show concluded, Emily has maintained a prolific television career and has also released a few original musical pieces. One of her notable roles is that of 'Mandy McAllister' in Young Sheldon. Her latest work is reprising her role as 'Mandy' in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, a spin-off of Young Sheldon. Emily's role in The Kominsky Method (2018–2021) earned her two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for the ensemble cast.
Billy Ray Cyrus played 'Robby Ray Stewart', the father and manager of the titular character. His role was a fictionalised version of himself, a former country music star who retired to raise his children. Following the series finale in 2011, Billy continued to expand his career across television, film, and music. His notable film characters include 'Vernon' in Still the King, 'Colton James' in The Spy Next Door, and 'Judd Ridge' in 90210. Talking of Billy's music career, his collaboration with Lil Nas X on the remix of the track, Old Town Road, gave him a major career resurgence and fetched him his first two Grammy Awards. On February 11, 2026, he made headlines for being unmasked as The Owl on The Masked Singer Season 14.
Jason Earles starred as 'Jackson Stewart', the goofy and messy older brother of 'Miley Stewart'. Despite playing a teenager, Jason was 29 years old when the show premiered and 34 by the series finale. Immediately following Hannah Montana's conclusion, he starred as 'Sensei Rudy Gillespie' in the martial arts comedy, Kickin' It (2011–2015). He expanded his skill set by directing episodes of Kickin' It, Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything, and Prince of Peoria. He also served as a co-producer for later seasons of Kickin' It. Jason then became the acting coach for the Disney+ series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, since its first season.
Mitchel Musso essayed the role of 'Oliver Oken', the eternal optimist and loyal best friend to 'Miley Stewart' and 'Lilly Truscott' in Hannah Montana. Following the series, Mitchel mostly did voice acting, with a few normal, on-camera acting roles as well. In the popular animated show, Phineas and Ferb, he voiced 'Jeremy Johnson', the love interest of 'Candace Flynn'. Mitchel Musso also voiced 'Wally' and 'Jeremy Johnson' in Milo Murphy's Law. He has largely stepped away from the spotlight following his 2023 legal issues involving charges of public intoxication and theft (allegedly involving a bag of chips). The charges were reportedly dismissed later that year.
Moisés Arias played the role of 'Rico Suave' on Hannah Montana. He was the show's primary antagonist, known for his elaborate pranks and jibes, often directed at his older employee, 'Jackson Stewart'. Since the show ended in 2011, the child star successfully transitioned into a versatile adult actor. In The Kings of Summer (2013), Moisés played the breakout role of 'Biaggio', which he credits as a turning point in his career. His other notable works include the role of 'Poe' in Five Feet Apart, 'Bigfoot' in Monos, and 'Igor' in The King of Staten Island. He is currently starring as 'Norm MacLean' in the Amazon Prime adaptation of the video game series, Fallout.
