Asha Bhosle, the legendary singer, passed away at 92. Her death left her family and fans heartbroken. Currently, the Bhosle family is navigating through the loss. The iconic singer breathed her last on April 12, 2026, at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. As per reports, the veteran singer passed away after suffering cardiac arrest. Earlier, on April 11, 2026, Asha was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after she suffered cardiac and respiratory issues.

Asha remained in the ICU, and on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in the morning, her condition worsened. According to doctors, the legendary singer suffered multi-organ failure shortly before her passing. Today, on April 13, 2026, her last rites were performed at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, at 4:00 p.m. Amid this, a throwback video of Asha’s granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, has gone viral, in which she looked emotional while speaking about her bond with the legendary singer.

In March 2026, Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, sat for an interview with Filmygyan. During the conversation, Zanai got emotional while she spoke about her deep connection with Asha. Zanai highlighted that she doesn’t want to share her grandmom with everyone. Breaking down in tears, Zanai said:

"I love my grandmom. Mera unke saath itna deep connection hai ki main unko bas dekhti rehti hu aur kabhi kabhi ro leti hu. Life is short and not everybody is with us at all points. I don’t wanna share her with everyone. I don’t wanna give her to anyone. She is mine. And it is very personal for me."

In the same interview with Filmygyan, Zanai recalled the time when her grandmom sang her iconic song, Mera Kuchh Samaan on stage. Zanai shared that when Asha began singing the song, she couldn’t hold back her tears. Zanai highlighted that the song is very special to her. Zanai stated that through the song, Mera Kuchh Samaan, she always felt the deep connection that she has with her grandmom. She was quoted as saying:

"The moment she started, it carried so much meaning. Her voice was so emotional that when she began singing the song, I couldn’t stop crying. Ye gaana bohot special hai mere liye. Iss gaane se mujhe wo connection lagta hai unke saath. Ki aap mere saath hamesha ho aur aap kabhi mat jaana. Always stay with me, and it’s a very special song for me."

Asha Bhosle was the biggest supporter of Zanai Bhosle

Zanai Bhosle tried her best to follow the legacy of Asha Bhosle. The legendary singer began teaching music to Zanai from a very young age. At the mere age of 12, Zanai made her singing debut in the 2013 film, Mai. While Zanai tried to establish her foothold in the music industry, Asha became her biggest supporter. Once in an interview, Asha praised Zanai and said that she has a wonderful voice.

The legendary singer also expressed her wish to train Zanai myself. Asha added that Zanai’s voice is a mixture of hers and her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar. On January 29, 2025, Zanai took to her Instagram handle and shared a video featuring Asha Bhosle and her. Along with the clip, Zanai penned a heartfelt note for her grandmom. She wrote:

"Ashaai you have always been my inspiration and to see you groove to my song makes my heart happy! I mean it when I say 'Kehndi Hai tu na to phir chahun koi na.' I would want you to be my grandmother in every lifetime!! Love you."

Zanai Bhosle was born in 2002 in Mumbai to Anand and Ahuja Bhosle. She has a brother named Ranjay Bhosle. Reportedly, Zanai completed her studies at Institut Le Rosey, Switzerland. She is very close to her grandmom, Asha Bhosle. On Asha Bhosle’s 89th birthday, Zanai credited her grandmother for giving her a voice. She expressed her gratitude to Asha for making her a good human being and guided her to stay grounded always. In her note, Zanai got emotional and thanked Asha for trusting her abilities and showering her with so much love.
