Bridgerton Season 4 has once again made the audience nostalgic who has read the beautiful fairytale, Cinderella. Season 4 Part 1 kicks off with a grand masquerade ball, where everyone’s face remains hidden behind masks and their identities remain a secret until midnight. 'Sophie Baek' (played by Yerin Ha) sneaks into this masquerade ball and hopes that her stepmom doesn’t notice her. While she becomes successful in hiding herself, it was 'Benedict' who gets smitted by her at first sight. However, he fails to know her name and remembers her as 'Lady in Silver' because 'Sophie' rushes off from the event around midnight.
'Benedict' searches for 'Sophie' but fails repeatedly. Meanwhile, 'Sophie's' stepmom discovers that she had attended the ball and throws her out of the house. Being forced to go to the countryside to work for another household, one night, 'Sophie' encounters 'Benedict'. Despite their class differences, the duo couldn’t stop themselves from falling in love with each other. Still obsessed about 'Lady in Silver', 'Benedict' hurts 'Sophie' by asking, "Will you be my mistress?" Season 4 Part 1 ends with 'Benedict's' hurtful proposal to 'Sophie'.
According to Yerin Ha, Bridgerton Season 4 is based on Julia Quinn’s book, An Offer From A Gentleman. So, we can guess what to expect from Season 4 Part 2. The upcoming part will focus on the growing tension of 'Sophie', who tries to keep her past a secret. While the audience knows that 'Lady in Silver' is 'Sophie', it’s still a secret to 'Benedict'. However, 'Sophie's stepfamily makes it harder for her when they move in next door to the Bridgertons. While 'Benedict' insists that 'Sophie' stay with him permanently as his mistress, the latter refuses.
'Benedict' fears getting married to 'Sophie' as society will ruin her; on the other hand, 'Sophie' fears that if they have a child, they will be a illegitimate child and suffer just like her. For the uninitiated, 'Sophie' is a child of a nobleman and a maid. A turning point in the series comes when 'Benedict' discovers that 'Sophie' and 'Lady in Silver' are the same person. Being hurt, he confronts 'Sophie', who then confesses her past secret. However, when everything seemed perfect, 'Sophie's stepmother accused her of theft and got her arrested. 'Benedict' and his mom, 'Violet', go to free 'Sophie'. Later, 'Sophie' gets freed when the truth comes out. At the end, 'Benedict' sincerely apologises to 'Sophie' and proposes to her.
