All of it began after a routine White House update triggered a viral buzz, and videos of Donald Trump's hospitalisation started a wave of wishes. Amid the chaos, officials have explained how a simple misunderstanding led to confusion.

The White House declared a 'Press lid' on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the morning. For those unaware, press lid means the President will not make any further public appearances for the rest of the day. Although it is a routine practice at the White House, many users somehow misinterpreted this message. Within a few hours, social media platforms were filled with fake claims about President Donald Trump being rushed to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Eventually, the rumors were intensified when some internet users linked the 'press lid' to an alleged medical emergency. Additionally, some prediction markets and commentators amplified the baseless theory without any official confirmation. Moreover, a video clip of the President going to a hospital went viral. However, later, a reverse-image search revealed that it was an old, unrelated video from 2024. Despite this, the clip went viral, adding momentum to the buzz.

Later, some White House observers explained that such Fake theories spread on the internet when officials do not provide immediate clarity. Usually, President Donald Trump goes for public outings or travels to Mar-a-Lago. But, since he did not do the same on Saturday, it contributed to the umpire. Although some netizens claimed the silence on the President's activities was unusual, it is a normal White House procedure.

After the buzz around the U.S President's health raised concerns, the White House quickly moved to shut it down. Communications Director,  Steven Cheung stated that Trump was working continuously at the White House and in the Oval Office for the day. He emphasized that all the speculation about his health is baseless and that there was no medical emergency. Some journalists also gave real-time updates, like a CBS News correspondent noted that a Maine sentry stood outside the West Wing, giving a traditional signal that the President was working inside.
