American actress and filmmaker, Zoe Kravitz is currently hogging the limelight with her alleged engagement with English singer, songwriter and actor, Harry Styles. It was a chunky gold ring on Zoe’s ring finger that sparked rumours about her engagement with Harry. But do you know that The Batman actress was once head over heels in love with American actor, Karl Glusman? Yes, you read it right.
Zoe and Karl had a secret engagement followed by their wedding at the former’s dad’s lavish home in Paris. However, after their 1.5 years of marital bliss, they decided to part ways. While Zoe often talked about her separation from Karl, the latter chose to keep everything low-key. Now that Zoe Kravitz is grabbing a lot of attention, let’s find out what went wrong in her marriage to American actor, Karl Glusman.
Zoe filed for divorce from Karl Glusman on December 23, 2020, after 1.5 years of marital bliss. For the unversed, Zoe got married to Karl on June 29, 2019. In August 2021, their divorce was finalised. In a past interview with Another magazine, Zoe gave a rare glimpse into her broken marriage with Karl. She shared that separations and breakups are sad, but are beautiful things at the same time. She mentioned that after a divorce, people are at a space where they are both heartbroken and excited for the future. She was quoted as saying:
"I got married. I got divorced. Separations and breakups are sad, but are beautiful things, too. It's about the bittersweetness, that beginning and that end. It's so complex that space, when you're in between heartbroken and mourning the loss of something and excited for what's ahead of you."
Speaking to ELLE in February 2022, Zoe opened up about her divorce from Karl Glusman. In the interview, Zoe shared that she doesn’t want to explain the reason behind their split. She mentioned that it was not because of Karl being a bad partner and called him an incredible human being. Zoe highlighted that it was entirely her choice to file for divorce and part ways, as she wanted to know herself and her choices. She was quoted as saying:
"I don’t really want to go into that. Karl’s an incredible human being. It really is less about him and more about me learning how to ask myself questions about who I am, and still learning who I am, and that being okay. That’s the journey I’m on right now."
Later, in November 2022, Zoe sat down for an interview with GQ. The Batman actress shared that she just learned to think about who she is and what she wants. She then went on to explain that people meet someone who is amazing and wants to marry you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it was a hard question that she had to ask herself whether she wanted a marriage, kids or any of it. She added that she doesn’t know if she wants those things in her life. She was quoted as saying:
"You meet someone amazing and wants to marry you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If there’s nothing wrong, then why wouldn’t you do it? You love them, and that’s what you do. It’s a hard question to ask yourself: ‘Maybe I don’t want the thing that I’m supposed to want, a marriage, children, any of it. I don’t know if I want that at all.’ That’s an uncomfortable question, especially for a woman to ask herself."
