It is worth mentioning that Britney had three broken marriages. However, it was her separation from her third husband, Sam Asghari, that made headlines. Following their divorce, Britney called her marriage to Sam, a 'fake distraction.' Britney Spears’ third husband, Sam Asghari, filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage. The couple exchanged rings in September 2021. Later, in June 2022, the duo tied the knot in a small but star-studded ceremony. However, their marriage hit a rough patch after one year. According to divorce petition filed by Sam, the reason behind parting ways was 'irreconcilable differences'. On August 17, 2023, Sam took to his Instagram Stories and shared a note to address his split from Britney. In the note, Sam mentioned that after 6 years of relationship, they are parting ways. The note can be read as:
"After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S--- happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."
On August 18, 2023, Britney shared a video along with a heart-wrenching note on her Instagram. She opened up about her divorce from Sam Asghari. She also expressed her feelings, including a mental breakdown following their split. She mentioned that while her social media post seemed perfect, it’s far from reality. For the uninitiated, Britney met Sam in 2016 and started dating in 2017. Britney added that if she was not a soldier’s daughter, she would have gone to doctors to fix herself. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
"As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together. 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel. If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!!"
Following their divorce, multiple reports claimed that Britney might have to pay a whopping amount to Sam in order to finalise their separation. A few reports claimed that he allegedly threatened to exploit Britney with videos. At the time, a spokesperson for Asghari told NBC News that the claims were false. The spokesperson mentioned that Sam had always supported her and would continue doing so. The spokesperson was quoted as saying:
"There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to expose his ex-wife with videos. However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her."
