Who were Jane Adetoro, Christina Walters and Rebecca Walters?

According to Sussex Police, the three bodies belonged to three sisters, identified as Jane Adetoro, Christina Walters and Rebecca Walters, who were in their 30s. They had reportedly travelled to Brighton before the tragedy took place near Madeira Drive. In turn, their father, Joseph, issued an emotional statement through the police, paying tribute to his kids. In his words:

"Christina and Becky were more than daughters to me; they were my joy, my strength and the beautiful light that filled our family with happiness and love. Each of you was unique and precious in your own special way. Your smiles brightened dark days, your laughter brought comfort, and your presence made life more meaningful. Though your time on Earth was short, the impact you made will remain in our hearts forever."

Joseph explained that no words would fully express his pain of losing all three daughters in one go. He also reflected on their personalities, mentioning Jane's strength, Christina's kindness, and Rebecca's joyful attitude. Meanwhile, the police officials have asked for privacy for the family. At the same time, they have continued their investigation. Chief Superintendent, Adam Hays, mentioned that the force's thoughts remain with the "sisters' loved ones".

Theories about what might have happened to the sisters at Brighton Beach

Although the exact details of the incident are still under investigation, police are exploring possible reasons the sisters ended up in the water. However, they have explained that they do not suspect any criminality activity in the case. Another major theory concerns the dangerous underwater terrain at Brighton Beach. Experts have often warned that the area is steep and suddenly drops into the water.

So, investigators believe someone who is atoning or paddling near the shoreline could quickly lose balance in rough conditions. In fact, sea conditions were difficult during the early hours of May 13, 2026, due to strong tides. They are considering whether one of the sisters was caught in the waves and the other two tried to help her, but instead drowned. Still, cops are reviewing hundreds of CCTV footage from nearby locations to understand their movement before and during their alleged accident.
