Recently, Vikrant Massey revealed the real reason behind leaving the religion column blank in his son, Vardaan's birth certificate.
Vikrant Massey is one of the most celebrated Bollywood actors, who is best known for his powerful acting in the film, 12th Fail. Months ago, the actor won hearts on social media, when he posted a photo of him touching his wife, Sheetal's feet on Karwa Chauth. Later, he sparked conversations online when he left the religion column blank in his son's birth certificate. Recently, the actor opened up about the same and revealed the real reason behind it.
Recently, the much-loved Bollywood actor, Vikrant Massey sat down for a candid conversation with Times Now, during which he revealed the reason behind leaving the religion column blank in the birth certificate of his son. For the unversed, the couple welcomed son, Vardaan in 2024. When Vikrant was asked that if he was trying to make a statement with this move, the actor was quoted as saying:
"Ye saari chizen isliye nahi ki jaati ki aap statement karo, wo chizen aap karte hai kyuki wo aapki gut instinct hota hai and you believe in a certain value system, which you live by on a day-to-day basis."
Further, Vikrant Massey shared that the Indian government gives an option to the citizens to leave the religion column blank in the birth certificate and he only utilised that right. Vikrant also shared that he comes from a multi-cultural family and while he knows the good side of it, he has also seen the dark side of it. The Haseen Dilruba actor shared that he does not want his son to face the dark side. In his words:
"Bharat sarkar mujhe wo option deti hai, ki aapko religion ka column likhna hai ya nahi, aapki marzi. And its my right to utilise that. Aaj passport pe bhi single women do not need to name their husband's name. Ye saare changes hamare system mein aaye hai. I come from a multi-cultural family and I have also seen the dark side of it and I don't want to expose my son to that. He has the right to whatever he wants. The honourable government of my country gives me that option to leave that space blank and I left it blank."
For those who do not know, in 2025, Vikrant Massey won a lot of hearts on social media, when he shared a photo of him touching his wife’s feet after seeing the moon on Karwa Chauth. While some appreciated the gesture, others raised a few questions on it. Sharing the reason behind the same, the Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan actor shared:
"Ab sirf wife ki baat nahi hai, aise kitne log aate hai jo mujhse umar mein bade hote hai lekin pair choote hai, mujhe bilkul nahi pasand wo. Main unse ye kehta hu ki tumne last apne maa baap ke pair kab chuye the. Koi bhi pair choota hai, maine saamne se uske pair choo leta hu. Pair choona gesture of reverence. And it's sort of to give it back to the other person. And it's not just about Karwa Chauth. I think I have touched Sheetal's feet a lot. Pair choo-choo ke hi Laxmi ghar aayi hai."
